The Return of the Game in a Box!

Let's see if people are still doing them in 2 years. One problem with boxes is that they are VERY easily damaged, so not only are the up-front costs higher than a book, but the returns and spoilage is off the charts. --Erik

    GenCon UK is no longer

I had the opportunity to attend the "last" Gen Con UK in 2008 as a special guest. It was clear that the convention was far from perfect, but I had a great time, met lots of awesome gamers (and some great UK and European pros!), and was looking forward to attending again once things shook out...

Pathfinder 1E Is PAIZO becoming the next Wizards?

Well, I would expect so. --Erik

    Novels

I'm actually writing it now, but I have to convince the editors that it'll be worth publishing, which is no mean feat!

    Novels

Well, seeing as how our adventures are not assumed to have "happened" in the continuity of the world, our operating assumption is that the events in the novels will not change the world of the game. That said, if there's some town detailed in a novel, we'd probably make sure that the continuity...

    Novels

A formal news release will go out Tuesday, but we've posted the first two novel product pages on paizo.com/pathfinder/fiction. First up is Winter Witch, by Elaine Cunningham (which we'll have at Gen Con) followed shortly thereafter by Prince of Wolves, by Dave Gross, which follows up on...

    new 4E titles for Sept/Oct 2010

Another thing to consider is that I have not actively purchased D&D minis for about three years, now, so a repaint may not double up a miniature I already own. :) --Erik

    new 4E titles for Sept/Oct 2010

I'm definitely excited to see pictures of the Ravenloft box components. 40 D&D Minis-quality prepainted minis for $65 is a good deal even if I never get into the game. --Erik PS: It's nice to see Gamma World in there as well. I like that they're trying to apply the 4e rules to different genres...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

Yes, well, at the time I didn't have the ability to mass-produce professional revisions of the core rules, so I sort of had to allow the spells in the PH on principle. I had one weasely player in my campaign who always cast glitterdust, evard's black tentacles, web, and grease in every single...

    "Greyhawk Classics" novels

I did like the inclusion of a river boat casino in one of the books. I would have been a lot more forgiving if the books had not been foisted on my favorite campaign setting, and if they didn't basically waste such iconic D&D locations and characters.

Upcoming Changes to D&D Minis Line

I'm not sure I'd be sad to see the minis get a little larger. I _would_ like slightly larger, slightly better painted, cool-looking monsters. Yeah, it would suck that they don't match the 1000+ _metal_ minis I've had for years, to say nothing of the hundreds and hundreds of D&D minis, but I...

    "Greyhawk Classics" novels

If by "not comical" you mean "not funny," then I am forced to agree! Haw, haw, haw. I kidd, I kidd. :) --Erik

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

That's what I did. I banned the broken-ass Spell Compendium from my campaign before Pathfinder was even a glimmer in Paizo's eye. --Erik

    "Greyhawk Classics" novels

Be warned that the Kidd novels are not for everyone. I really strongly disliked them, for example, but that probably had a lot to do with my unhealthy reverence for the Greyhawk setting and general dislike of tongue-in-cheek "jokey" fantasy. Sure, they read easy, but one character is a pixie and...

Why Do Cover Artists Not Contribute Any Interior Art?

It comes down to cost, both real (in the case of the publisher) and opportunity (in the case of the artist). Since you brought up Todd Lockwood, I'll use him as an example. Paizo's current pay rate for covers starts at about $1200 and goes up based on the "asking price" of a given artist...

Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

Here's the situation. Back when we were doing the Beta, we certainly did not have any plans to revisit the Campaign Setting book with a new edition. We had plenty of stock left, and while we knew we'd eventually have to do something, it seemed like that stock would last us a couple of years...

    2009 in Review

HIGHLIGHTS --------------- • Selling a bajillion copies of Pathfinder and making sure I and my staff got to keep our jobs despite circumstances being slated fairly heavily against us. • Playing my barbarian Ostog the Unslain (8 sessions and still no armor, still alive!) in James Jacobs's...

    Pathfinder 1E OA Pathfinder

This is definitely something on the middle-future horizon as an official release from Paizo. It's not officially on a schedule yet, and no work has been done on it, but we've certainly discussed it plenty and have lots of ideas ready when the "get to work" bell chimes Midnight.
