What Item Creation feat should I pick?

Arms and armor is good, it saves a lot of money for the party, and enables you to make just the right combinations for weapons. Of course it won't help your wizard much, but it's great in a cooperative campaign. .Ziggy

How does Magic Circle Against Evil work?

I'm pretty sure that the ruling outlined by rushlight is correct. Rember that the magic circle alse can be used to trap a creature inside the circle, strengthening the theory that circles act as barriers. .Ziggy

    Lady Despina's Virtue - Continued

This is beyond cool. The Balor scene is one of the best fantasy scenes I have read ever. And I've read few in my life.... Please, please keep posting Sepulchrave, I'm ravenous for more :D. .Ziggy

DMs, Do you allow your group(s) to play Evil PCs and/or parties, & why?

I voted shades of gray. In my experience a too big aligment spread in the party will cause it to break up, especially along the good-evil axis. .Ziggy

    One-legged halfling

Do not reduce his Dex, it affects lots of skills where you don't use you feet. Rather give him penalties to actions and skills where you use the feet, and make those penalties gradually smaller as gets used to beeing without the foot. .Ziggy

[Gloating] This is what happens to unprepared characters.

Heh, we also got it by stirges (about 12 I think), at NIGHT. Most were asleep, and it was pure luck that my familiar made his spot check. In the first round thay swarmed everyone, but one fireball at point blank (8th level wizard) and no more stirges :) .Ziggy

Would you pay for cool features?

I'll put my support behind all those who want to pay. I don't need the features, but it's a reasonable way of getting something back for your (voluntary :) ) donation. .Ziggy

[feats] Too lazy to check it out for myself

Yes. They are unnamed bonuses, and these always stack. I am also pretty sure this specific exampele has been confirmed somewhere (FAQ or Sage), but can't find it just now. .Ziggy

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

I see your point, and agree that you need *some* sort of information about the spell in order to dispel it. But I don't buy the argument that no attended spell can be perceived. If we classify these spells according to how easy it is to perceive them: [list=1] The spell is visible and obvious...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

Okay, I'll do this slowly so everybody understands it :D A) Dispel Magic can be used to dispel an ongoing spell with a targeted dispel. B) The issue here is whether spells "attended" (i.e. cast on a person, or on a object attended by a person) can be the only target of a targeted Dispel...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

I understand your point of view, but still disagree :) If we look at what you can target, we have (as you said): The sage is discussing the rules for 2), and has confirmed that attended objects (and spells on these objects) are affected when you target a creature. He has not in any way...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

Sorry, that ruling is not relevant for what we are discussing here. :) Let's have a look at what the Sage says: Here the Sage states that a targeted dispel on a fighter will affect all attended objects, including spells on attended objects. Nothing here on whether spells (e.g. the GMW on the...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

I cannot see why spells cast on a person is different from other spells with continual effects. While I agree on the "attended objects" metaphor, there is nothing in the spell description that disallows targeted dispels for attended objects. In fact the spell description explicitly discuss how...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

I agree. But there AFAIK no definite rules for this. But normally you don't need *any* knowledge of a spell to dispel it using Dispal Magic (e.g. if counterspelling you don't have to do a Spellcraft roll, you just have to make the level check for Dispel Magic). I would however say that you...

Dispel Magic - Dispel single spell only?

Sure. From the SRD: Just use a targeted dispel on the spell you want to go, all other spells (and items) are unaffected. .Ziggy

    Pig stats

Re: Re: Re: Pig stats While modern pigs often get as large as 300 pounds (and some monsters even more), this is mainly a result of intense breeding the last 50 years. Medieval pigs were quite a bit more lean (and wilder, there are several stories of people killed by pigs). I have no certain...

The Runic Cthulhu Hour: Something wrong in a small town college.

Excellent start, another thread added to my list of must-read stories. BTW CoC is *excellent* for this type of campaign, adding horror to a well-known setting maximizes the fun. We used to play a con-scenario based on using the CoC-setting in our town every year, and it was great fun. The most...

    Sultans of Defensive Smack

Well, while you definitely *can* add range to Harm, not everybody is running around with a meta-magic rod (or is a Hierophant). But every high-level cleric worth his holy symbol will have mass heal. The other disadvantages with undead are 1. No CON, less HP. Not really a big issue with these...

    Sultans of Defensive Smack

Undead is nice, but there are a couple of pitfalls: 1. The Vampire only works on humanoids, and most smacked monsters are usually outsiders or dragons. So that wount go. I don't now about the Akutenshi (OA ?), that might work. 2. You suddenly become vulnerable to to all the Cure/Heal spells...

    Sultans of Defensive Smack

Om the "normal" half-dragon laernan pyrohydra this would indeed work, but a simple destruction or slay living is much simpler, you can easily make it miss its fortitude save with a bit of buffing. On the awakened forsaker you'll have to beat SR45. That is pretty much impossible with an...
