So if Wizards is reaching out to the MMO crowd with D&D 4th...

The type of the dice is incidental for the joke; it's a roleplayer-themed joke on Nietzsche's classic warning about fighting monsters and staring in the abyss.

    Excerpts: Angels

That's the tragedy of Planescape: it's a setting built on the idea of interplanar and inter-setting connections... but it works best as its own, separate setting, detached from every other one. (Much like Spelljammer, actually, except that PS got all of SJ's share of great ideas, designer love...

    Daily Art Preview

I like both the new angels and the new balor. The former are quite good; I like the facelessness and their lack of legs both, as it makes them appear more like extensions of a divine will than beings in their own right. (I'm going to ignore the "astral mercenaries" idea; IMO, the whole point of...

    Gnome Art Preview

Nope; it just has hands that are backwards on its wrists. That's been a Rakshasa trait as long as they've existed in (A)D&D. Also, I find the complaints about "transgendered" gnome both nonsensical - I mean, he's obviously male, just wearing a robe - and more than a bit offensive.

Female Dragonborn - No longer have breasts?

Have you checked out Frederik K. T. Andersson's stuff on Elfwood? (Warning: Many pics in his gallery are NSFW.)

Female Dragonborn - No longer have breasts?

So you say. Me, I'm perfectly okay with them laying eggs and then nursing their young. It's not as if dragons, chimeras or griffons belonged to any real biological categories either.

    D&D 4E Does 4E fix the 5-minute workday?

Ah, the good old "There is no problem with the game; everyone else is just playing it wrong!" argument.

ConvenIentLy, they tend to be the same people. Anyway, the new pic of the tarrasque... it's not brilliant, I think, but it certainly is better than the 3e version (which always was kind of anticlimactic to me).

D&D 4E From the 4e MM preview: Astraljamming?!

Just as long as you get rid of caravels and other transplanted medieval ships, necessitated by the setting's intended use as a connection between existing worlds. I want Spelljammer ships to be built for spelljamming, or astral sailing!

    Gnolls, gnolls, glorious gnolls

Add me in as another gnoll fan. And, for what it's worth, I much prefer the savage yet loutish hyena-headed critters to some bizarre troll-gnome crossbreed. In one setting I tinkered with, I used them as a major race in the stereotypical "Dark Continent": violent, clannish/tribal, matriarchal...

    What's the best fighter/mage class/Prc?

That's not bad, either. I'm always going back and forth whether Abjurant Champion is a broken PrC or not...

    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

SI system is the only reasonable choice for real-life purposes, or for games which emulate real-life things (SF, mainly; their sticking with feet etc. is one of my issues with GURPS). For D&D, though, feet etc. are just fine; it adds to the ancient flavor. :)

D&D 4E From the 4e MM preview: Astraljamming?!

Yeah, I noticed that. And something similar has been surmised since the name "Astral Sea" was revealed. This could be very interesting...

    What's the best fighter/mage class/Prc?

Have you tried a Duskblade in practice? I'm playing one at the moment (just hit level 15), and they really aren't overpowered or broken. The 1st-level benefits are all very minor and mostly flavorful, and the tremendous amount of spell slots is compensated by the very focused (even narrow) spell...

Which WotC settings in 4th Edition?

The first thing I'd do would be to ditch the "medieval" component. It was forced in, again, by the way Spelljammer had to act as a connection between Krynn, Oerth, Faerun and more. (Also, a lot of AD&D gamers seemed to have a phobia of firearms even in settings where they fit the themes.) I...

    White Raven Onslaught Revision

They're also associated with battles. And one of the defining characteristics of ravens is that they're black; so, White Raven is something unusual and clever, and definitely martial. Works very well for me.

Playtest report: Hanging on a fence

Interesting! Can you elaborate on the weirdness part?

    White Raven Onslaught Revision

It's new and thus bad, unlike Otiluke etc. That's the only consistent explanation I have come up for the endless complaining.

    4th Edition Red Wizards

Unnecessary, since ignore lists exist and are quick, easy and satisfying to use. I have to say that "Thay = evil Tibet" sounds very nice. I was never all that fond of the school-specific structure of the Red Wizards, both because it felt meta-gamey in a bad way to me (like the "nine gods for...

    New Dungeon Article

As a Finn, I don't see anything weird or funny about the compound words, either. They are infinitely better than made-up ones with a'pos'troph'es and kreatyve spellyng.
