    Misconceptions about 3.5...Answers

Pretty much my opinion, as well.

Playing characters of the opposite gender

"None of the above", since the poll didn't have an option for "I neither oppose or encourage this. If you're pretending to be an elf, does it matter if it's a he- or she-elf?"

Ampersand column confirms Sigil for DMG2

On the other hand, if everyone who's got DMG2 is familiar with Sigil as a planar city and a crossroads, it might be easier to sell them a setting focusing on planar adventures using Sigil as the "home base". We'll see!

Why do you keep playing 4e?

Because it's fun, fast, better balanced than 3.5, and much quicker and easier for our DM to prepare for and run. :)

Spotlight Interview: John Rogers on the Manual of the Planes

I was hoping for good info on Feywild, and it looks like the MotP delivers handsomely. Very interesting!

    Oooooh Monster Descriptions...

Hm. MM4e has color pics (and quite good ones, in fact!) of bugbears, goblins and hobgoblins, and the following bits of description: Not a lot, but I don't see how that is any worse than the bugbear description quoted. (And I point at the pics again.)

Manual of the Planes Revealed Over on RPG.net

I'm kind of relieved that 4e isn't half-assedly bringing Planescape back in its MotP, for two reasons. First, like Kamikaze Midget, I'd prefer to see it done well or not done at all. Secondly, most of the stuff that made Planescape the setting so interesting - the factions, belief shaping the...

Does art matter in a publication?

My thoughts exactly. If nothing else, a bit of art in the books helps to ensure everyone - the players as well as the DM - are using a common basis for their imagination, which means implicit misunderstandings and such are less likely to happen.

    That Magic Feeling

That about sums it up for me, as well. I haven't played a 4e wizard yet, but from reading the rules, I'd say it fits these qualifications nicely.

Order of the Stick: Why isn't it going 4e?

Precisely. A comic that's nothing but jokes about the game would grow dull very quickly, and start repeating itself. Evolve or die! :)

    Forked Thread: The Great Wheel

Do people intentionally ignore the "Lore" section, or is it just really easy to miss?

Predict the Future: How will what we have today EVOLVE INTO 5th Edition?

Too early to say, I think. Getting rid of the flesh-and-blood DM won't be happening, though; it's the thing no MMO or single-play game can't match.

    Forked Thread: The Great Wheel

How on Earth did you manage that? Cant is one of the most disliked things about Planescape, and people have been complaining about it ever since PS appeared. (It doesn't bother me, but it does bother a lot of people.) Also, I have to agree with Little Raven about that cosmology picture; it's a...

    D&D 4E The Magic-User: a 4e alternate class

Agreed; this is what I expect and hope to see with 4e.

How would you do 5th edition D&D?

Tieflings aren't "new shiny shiny"; they've been very popular ever since they appeared in Planescape, over ten years ago. Gnomes and half-orcs, popular? Since when? In my experience, and judging by what I've seen on the 'net about other people's games, those two were the least popular, least...

    Forked Thread: The Great Wheel

The Great Wheel worked finely for Planescape, which took the alignment-based arrangement and cosmic symmetry, and ran with it (more successfully in some places than in others - can anyone say anything interesting about Bytopia, for example?). However, just as Planescape in my opinion suffered...

How would you do 5th edition D&D?

Let's see... I'd poll the player base to get a good feel of their mood. Also, listen to feedback received over the course of 4e's run. I'd focus on fixing the broken things that have emerged over that run; some of it will only have showed up two or three supplements from now, so I can't say...

Take Two: Testing The Correlation Between Class Preference And 4E Love/Hate

    I'm class-neutral (perhaps with a slight spellcaster preference), and I prefer 4e.

How to use Graz'zt as BBEG

To expand a bit on this... Orcus is all about death and undeath, and embracing the latter to overcome the former; Demogorgon, about madness and frothing chaos where the left hand not only doesn't know what the right hand is doing, but actively working against it; and Yeenoghu represents...
