To be fair, the DC is 30 plus the level of the spell. Does Shilsen make you make the spellcraft check to do your summons? If so, Alienist must have been a painful choice prior to your current vaunted level of power. Pardon my ignorance, but I only recently got roped into the storyhour...

If you go with the fake out by the agitating nobles, it might be fun to drop a classic spy clue by having one of the boarding party carrying a copy of the Sharn Inquisitive. One of the across/down pairings in the crossword could be the x/y locus of the attack.

Spells like water breathing and swim can handle those events well enough.

I hate to belabor the suggestion, but if you're concerned about the ship's speed for boarding purposes, it's a perfect opportunity for a lone saboteur or small group of less obvious villains to stall the ship at the right point(free the elemental, kill the pilot, cause some sort of faux minor...
