    Adding Incarnum to a campaign

Same here, but I've seen someone turn down a +3 ecl magic using race because it had a 50 year lifespan. Didn't seem to mind the LA bit. Probably had something to do us wanting to see if we can get into epic levels.

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

meh... Thought I had. Guess I wasn't quite as objective as I thought. Aw hell... :o

Is ECL a problem from levels 1 to 6?

I use them as is. So far they don't outstripe anyone. We've made it to 7th level without complaints. If anything, the +1 race users tend to gripe about being one step behind everyone else. (NOTE: these are for a gesalt game) We have an ecl +2 sorcerer, a +1 psion, a +1 cleric, and a +0 ecl...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

Alright, let's get to the meat of the matter here. At no point have I said you were wrong or playing improperly. I played my way, you play yours. We seem to agree on that much. So far (again) I've been called micro-managing, silly, nit picky, and anal. The tone of your posts have been abrasive...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

I think I was clinched when I was called micro-managing, more than anything else...

    Adding Incarnum to a campaign

it also cuts down your lifespan a bit, if I remember correctly. I'm nitpicking though.

I hate Tolkien: suggest a fantasy setting.

Hey! I forgot Warhammer had a fantasy version.

I hate Tolkien: suggest a fantasy setting.

I should have read a bit futher... :) I'll second Iron Kingdoms. Nothing says 'AAAAARRGGHH!!!' like the wrath of Menoth killing his own cleric and the unbeliever he tried to heal. And good luck finding a Res spell. ;) Magic isn't so much rare as temporary and tightly controlled.. Base magic...

I hate Tolkien: suggest a fantasy setting.

Does it have to be d20? Warhammer 40k is coming out with an RPG fairly soon. Doesn't get much grittier.

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

Yes... bribery... yes... I get the feeling molonel and I are saying the same thing. 'Three blind men and an elephant' type of deal.

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

I haven't been using just metropoli in my examples, you have. Regardless, you will get a result that guarantees a Raise (either by caster or scroll from cities and metropoli) on a roll of 86 or better. 15 out of 100. Simplify that to 3 out of 20. Simplify it further for 1 out of 6.66. You...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

That 3 out of 20 communities with a guaranteed raise dead, either through spellcaster or scroll. Odds are better than 1 in 7, with every village guaranteed to have a gentle repose unless you choose otherwise. You wanted rules for McClerics. They're there regardless or power base of critters...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

3.0 DMG pages 137 to 140 (paraphrased). Items for sale: anything, magical or mundane, with a price less than or equal to its GP limit (40 for a thorp, 100,000 for a metroplis). While there may be exceptions, these are temporary as these gatherings will conform to the norm eventually (yes, this...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

If you're responses are going to be 'no I won't answer your question, I don't have to...' I'm afraid we're done talking. Have fun. Enjoy your game. :)

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

Nope, but I know what I've seen. Evertone's milage varies. You called me anal, nit-picky, micromanaging, silly and have treated other posters the same. This is conversation used in a civil arguement? Any Dungeon Magazine. Pick a page. This is because you choose to play them this way. By...

    Help me accept psionics

Took me a while, but I'm allowing it as is (with errata) in my campaign. Storywise, it's a menacing system that is either quashed or tightly controlled (sorcerers currently run things). Mechanics wise I treat it the same as a fighter. They pick the weapon system they want to focus on and run...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

I used a named city. Getting a boat in Greyhawk or most other campaigns just as easy. No, it's not. Per the DMG, it easy to find one based on a percentage roll. Hence my reasoning for not using these rules. They're still in the RAW, and you apparently aren't using them. Mine has planets with...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

Show me stats in WotC products that don't assume raising is readily available. Or a published adventure that doesn't have raising/healing available for cheap after the event is finished (RttToEE almost makes having a cleric with raise dead manditory). Or a WotC published world that doesn't have...

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

I have been. Saying 'I think you really mean x when you say y' doesn't change anything. Can't say I've played at cons, but I've played pretty much all over eastern asia. Military work tends to lead to free time and lots of players. Cool. Here is not a solid sampling of the gaming community...
