When the GM gips you (a rant)

I'm the usual DM, as well as student and working graveyard shifts. Don't have many options. But you're right. Let's see where this goes. Thanks for listening though. :D

When the GM gips you (a rant)

We're playing IK, so that's not an option. The DM's comment after blowing him up: 'Well, the Gunmage didn't like him anyway...'. Now, in his defense, he may have forgetten that their were characters in melee. Darkness had also been cast (sp ability of some of the undead, but as far as anyone...

When the GM gips you (a rant)

Not if I wanted to keep the character as a cavalier.

    9th level Gunmage

When the GM gips you (a rant)

Probably should have thought of that. As it stood, I was playing a 3rd level character that could do 2d6 damage once (takes two rounds to reload) then has to deal with undead in the double digits with a bayonet. Anything seemed preferable to that.

When the GM gips you (a rant)

7 on the die roll. No to the first, yes to the second. Just that there wasn't much need for the fireball. The tharn monk was cleaning up rather well (spiked chain, improved trip, and +7 to hit before counting strength in the 20's against low to mid level undead). I do appreciate a...

When the GM gips you (a rant)

I'd have to wonder why, as they were 3rd level warriors (good BaB), and the barrels weren't rolling faster than any character (few classes get AC bonuses for movement). Using IK military pistols (80 ft range inc). At best the roll would have suffered a -2 to hit. The barrels didn't have cover.

When the GM gips you (a rant)

Small object (+1 AC for size, -5 for being an object [no dex]) puts it at AC 6 (10 - 4). From my understanding of the game the object has hardness but no AC inprovements, and definitely none that rival medium armor. The warriors had a base +3 to hit. I don't know their stats or feats. That gives...

When the GM gips you (a rant)

This is eating away at me, so if I rant here I can let it go. Feel free to add any opinions or similar experiences for or against. Comradery is a beautiful thing... :) One of the players in our group started running an IK campaign. Figured things should be okay, but I was warned that the new...

    The "Low Magic"/"Rare Magic" Conundrum

MGP's chaos magic works well for this. Incredible effects miles across, multiple effects combining for some truely evil consequences, if you're willing to risk the high caster check. In my opinion (and just my opinion) player characters have a huge fault... their decisions are made by players...

Quick Draw + Dancing Weapons = Army...?

Largely depends on how you build the weapon. D&D is full of unique items that say 'this item is identical to X item, except...'. A dragon mech (3rd party campaign setting, not quite industrial revolution style equipment) mech used by a nature based class (druid or ranger) did something similar...

A quick question about item creation and spell immunities...

Gotcha. Thanks again for the responses. I figured as much, but it's best to know ahead of time.

How much blood in a hp?

Hypo needles are stated at doing 1 hp of damage.

A quick question about item creation and spell immunities...

The ability comes from MGP's Artillerist PrC. The class becomes immune to their own evocation and direct damage spells.

A quick question about item creation and spell immunities...

Say you have a character that is immune to their own evocations. If they make single use items with said evocations, are they immune to the effects of those specific items?

Leadership, UH, What is it good for?

Look to Fearun. Wizards can be as pious (or favored) as any cleric. The wizard could just be aiding his god by helping the cleric they most believe represents his faith. As for uses, nearly everyone in my DS campaign has taken Leadership, or plans to. Here's the breakdown: The Dragon Sorcerer...

Is it unbalancing to let arcane spellcasters cast in armor?

Didn't vote. The option I would have picked would read 'depends on the campaign setting'. I have no problems with mages/sorcerers spending feats to learn to cast in armor. Fighters spend their training learning to use armor and get used ot wearing it. Wizards are behind the curve in that...

    Space... Horrrrooooooor!

If yiu want more of an Aliens feel for it, you could do worse than the Kython from BoVD. They even come with their own tech! You could run them if a fashion similar to the tyranids of WH40,000. Everything living becomes bio-sludge. That's used for the creatures/symbiotes, which hunts for more...

    Does getting treasure equal fun?

No, I don't need it. It's nice to be surprised once in a while though.
