    Gothic romance horror adventure..?

Pathfinder's Changling (Bestiary 2) and Hag dynamic may be interesting - especially if an NPC or PC starts...changing...into something else. Gender-bend the hag into something akin to Swamp Thing if it needs to be male. Could make for a good tragedy if it was a loved one of a PC. "Sparklepires"...

How would you secure a steampunk bank vault?

If you can find it, pick up some Iron Kingdoms d20 stuff. It's getting harder to find, though.. How about a steam golem built into the door itself? You can't open the door without first defeating the golem...or having the right credentials. A shotgun/wand spell trap for those who open the door...

Pathfinder 1E Are you a Pathfinder expert?

Spell check one of my posts on a forum? Okay, fine; if I have to. I guess. I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants dungeon master with a high reading comprehension and the ability to quickly track down various minutia in the rules. “Wit” may be at times a tall order, yet sarcasm comes easily...

Pathfinder 1E The Pathfinder Monk: A Revision by Master Arminas

First, I would like to thank you for agreeing with me about people trying to weeaboo the monk and not doing that in your build. It is nice not to get into that fight. One thing I would consider adding to Flurry of Blows is to any light melee weapon he is proficient with, instead of just...

Pathfinder 1E The Mind Mage: A Pathfinder Psionicist

I see your argument about how psionics are kind of the "red-headed step child" of D&D, but..there are issues. For what you are trying to do, it doesn't go far enough to really be it's own class. It doesn't feel special. Following Paizo's Archetype method may work better, like a psionic...

    Artistic Direction

As an artist, one aspect of the Pathfinder campaign setting that I'm working on needs to be on top of it's game: the artistic vision of the book. More or less the darn thing is more of an overly ambitious portfolio project, and if I can eventually make a few bucks off of it, well, I'm fine with...

    Going Retro

One, I suck at math - especially formulas until I know how they are applied. I need context, and the description in the version of 2e I read...was weird. Been a while since I attempted to read it, and I think I may have gotten lost around figuring out what the Thac0 was or something. I started...

    Going Retro

Oh, those old Transformers episodes were rather terrible :D. Beast Wars holds up because of the writing, but G1... Still, 3 or 4 of those G1 plots slapped together did make a decent 3rd Bayformer movie. Yes, I can give an analytical breakdown as to why it is terrible. I won't do it, though...

    Going Retro

Well, thanks to those who explained Thac0 as I now understand it better, but I can honestly say I'm glad it was replaced. One important thing to keep in mind is whether or not something feels retro/classic verses a rerelease. Hitting the sweet spot can be tricky, though. Hasbro's had...

    Going Retro

Okay.. 1. Look, I've started gaming with 3e, and while I've read the rules for how Thac0 work and had it explained to me, it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. 2. I keep hearing on Enworld how everything was better back in the "good old days" from various posters, which does indicate...

Pathfinder 1E Thinking of Buying Pathfinder

Core Rulebook is nice to have in person, and the Game Master's guide, while not essential, does have some useful tools in it. The GMG doesn't read as well as a PDF as in person. All the Adv. paths are designed to either fit into the Inner Sea campaign setting or to be plugged and played into...

Does anybody know how well D&D has been doing?

Well, I knew most info I would get would be anicdotle, but overall - about what I though: 4e seems to be doing decent, but not as well as expected.

    D&D 5E (2014) Art direction and 5th edition

I always find it funny when people start talking "realism," "realistic," and "fantasy" all at once. As an artist, I have found what people feel/see is real is far different that what I, as a trained observer in form so I can draw it, see as real. I could write a whole disertation on it, but such...

    Going Retro

Something in these recent 5e threads got me a thinking...what if, WHAT if...WotC does something a bit more like their own retro clone. D&D Anniversery Edition, which plays more like AD&D with a few modern concepts tossed in to make it easier for 4e gamers to pick up (and, y'know, clean up...

How do I help the Fighter?

Okay, so it's just a case where he hasn't had a good chance to really, really shine. That's relativly easy to fix.

How do I help the Fighter?

I'd recommend back-'porting the Pathfinder Fighter, although it does read like he sacrificed offensive capability for durability with the current build. Maybe break out the Book of Nine Swords? A couple of martial maneuvers would give the character a bit of extra flare.

No More 15-Minute Adventuring Day: Campsites

The 15 min day is not a problem I've ran into,so it would be kinda silly for me to try and fix what ain't broke. It seems more like an issue for PCs designed as glass cannons, though. The thing is, I GM with a dynamic world. Small dungeons often turn into one big encounter, maybe two or 3 at...

Does anybody know how well D&D has been doing?

I've been out of the 4e loop for..well, a good 2 years now. I know sales were strong early, and a year and a half ago they seemed decent. Does anybody know how well 4e products have been moving in their local game store?

Do you want/are you ready for a D&D 5th edition?

Huh..only 3 years of 4e? Seems longer... I voted yes, for two points: one, I am interested to see where it will go now that DDI provides some hard data for WotC to analyse. Two, if they announce next year, 5e will be release somewhere between 2013 and 2015 - which is 5-7 years of 4e. Remember...

    Getting away from miniatures.

I enjoy them, and I use them - then again, I'm an artist who's quick with a marker, and I like to set up terrain that players can use to their advantage/disadvantage. The one problem I've ran across is when someone studies the combat field like a chess board during their turn instead of paying...
