    Do you fudge?

I sometimes "update" npc tactics when I've forgotten something obvious, or have been pressed for time during prep time.

    Dragons of Faerun

A book to love and enjoy way into 4th edition. Somewhat like Serpent Kingdoms and Lost Empires, but with less rules/stats.

What (PHB) Spells have you banned/altered?

I've banned all movement spells in my homebrewed setting to recreate the style of books like the Lord of the Rings and A Game of Thrones. Works like a charm. I don't think it reduces the power of spellcasters either, it just alters the dynamics of the setting.

FR - Murann and it's Ogre Mages [major updates, 8/25]

Its a follow-up to the Stingers in Monsters of Faerûn, "The Stinger War", and is vague at best. Also, you may want to check out some radical alliances in the conflict write-up. The finer points was lost to me, but it involved an alliance between some cyricists, clerics of Loviatar and...

FR - Murann and it's Ogre Mages [major updates, 8/25]

The conflict remain unresolved for 3-4 years. The Council of Amn seem content with cutting their losses, while the ogre mages are digging in. The timeline begins at Ches 15 and ends Eleint 5, Year of Lightning Storms, and ends with a truce (and a different war brewing  ).

There are a few essential pages in Powers of Faerun for you. It both updates the story and stats one of the ogre mages.

For great horror music, check out Diamanda Galas "The Law of the Plague"/"Plague Mass" Trilogy. Scary stuff. ;)

Anyone ever play a dumb sorcerer?

    Yes. It's a hoot.

How many settings do you play?

I run games in two settings: my homebrew vanilla setting and the Forgotten Realms. Our group play in two more in addition: another DM's homebrew vanilla setting, and a strange mecha/conpiracy variant set in modern Oslo, Norway.

What is the Problem with Union!

The problem with Union is epic play is only convincing if you have a worthwhile story that needs that kind of power to tell, so whipping out a good city for epic play is very difficult. Waterdeep is a much better epic city in that sense. Union is not so bad really, but blandness those epic...

Age of Worms - Greyhawk or FR better?

Ok, it sounded like FR caused 2e and the end of classic Greyhawk. I clearly got it wrong

Age of Worms - Greyhawk or FR better?

I believe it was the other way around. AD&D changed, and the change in FR came afterwards. 1e FR featured assassins, barbarians, cavaliers and monks.

Age of Worms - Greyhawk or FR better?

As a devoted realms fan, I would have to say Greyhawk. Eric has done a great job converting the series - its delightful to read, as all his stuff is - but FR is IMO a setting of bullheaded commoners, bards and merry mages, and all this doom and gloom of AoW feels wrong somehow. I hope to run...

MONSTER MANUAL 4: More Monsters/Less Fluff or Vice Versa?

I apologize, and have changed my post. I strongly disagree with Razz, but my sarcasm was uncalled for.

MONSTER MANUAL 4: More Monsters/Less Fluff or Vice Versa?

I'm happy to see a format with more meat. I'm unable to put in the long hours of prep-time, so this is a great change of pace for me. Lighten up Razz, and let it grow on you. ;) Edited for politeness. Merric is the best thing at ever happened to this board.

    I am a Taxman.

Who would you pick to design Fourth Edition?

Peter Adkinson: A manager who loves and understands the game is as important as the designers. Ed Greenwood: Someone to remind everybody its supposed to be fun. Rich Baker: Smart designer and a good writer. Reynolds/Tweet/Mook et al.: Solid numbercrunchers who seem to be doing everything right.

What was your largest/longest single combat?

5 hours, 14 rounds. 3 characters, 3-6 drow ncps, iron golem, 1 demon running through a drow temple. A lot cooler than it sounds :heh:

    Quintessentially Forgotten Realms

To me, the Realms is like "Hidden Dragon, Crouching Tiger": adventures with a big scope, romance, intrigue, larger than life heroes and villains, fantastic scenery and colorful commoners. Its like a Mozart opera set in Grand Canyon, or Star Wars without science fiction. FR stories often include...
