    Titus

You will receive no apology. We darker hued elementals find your people greedy and imperialistic. You're always blathering on about the "pale elemental's burden" and trying to push your religion on us-- and we've seen the way you look at our women.

    Scion: Hero

Played Scion last night. Flavor's pretty neat, but the best part if the Initiative thing. It is really, really good. I wish there were a way to adapt it to d20 without invalidating a million feats and rules, because it is brilliant.

    Reimagining the Hobbit

Exactly. Don't the current rules already give Small creatures bonuses to Hide? I know you're just stating the possible argument, as opposed to making it, but I think you're right on no Dex mod. I also think Hobbits should retain a bonus to all saves, not just Will (though Will should be the big...

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

Yeah, but not playable by any stretch of the imagination in one system and wandering around in a world I can't force myself to care about in the other.

    Titus

What a gyp. I was so pumped about the possibility of an "Adapting Titus Andronicus to d20" thread. Or this.

    Reimagining the Hobbit

Let's not be silly here. For one thing, old school halflings were a little too naturally talented at thievery to simulate Tolkien. Part of the point of The Hobbit was that Bilbo Baggins was ill-suited for being a burglar and grew into it. I would think Hobbits would get Con bonuses, bonuses...

    Scion: Hero

Coincidentally enough, so am I, apparently. So I'll share thoughts then. I have some trepidation. I am surprised they used the Exalted system, which runs slower for combat, instead of the much slicker new World of Darkness rules. I fear it may be hobbled by endless combats.

    Best non-WotC Base Classes?

Mage (from Elements of Magic) and Green Ronin's Shaman and Witch seem to be the winners so far in this thread. If you have the relevant WotC book, people seem to love the Warlock. I don't know what it does, is there a 3rd party equivalent anywhere?

d20 casting mechanic - "levels" of magical talent?

Actually, I think the default d20 equivalent of "magical talent" is the relevant ability score (Charisma for spontaneous casters, etc.) So it seems like the simplest mechanic would be a stat that replaces any spellcaster's ability score for their particular type of magic. "Talent" or...

    d20M: new Talent Trees?

Finally, the answer is yes! There is an RPG Now staff review here: http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_reviews_info.php?products_id=21792&reviews_id=15953& That said, after Gen Con, I would love for Psion to put up his comments as a review as well... Speaking of which: This is a criticism I am...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

QFT. Then again, I live in San Francisco, and I have seen nearly the exact same outfit-- on people I sort of knew! (At the risk of offending my friends, let's just say that outfit is fine on Planet "Fab-u-lous!") Snipped, but that's a good point. I think the main thing a lot of us do with the...

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

This is what I expect as well. I think Monte is too smart to have LAs and all that for a large group of playable characters. He and Sean Reynolds are smart guys, who know their crunch backwards and forwards and are not afraid to screw with d20's holy bovines-- as someone else pointed out, tehy...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

Not accurate, huh? Oh good, I thought I was gonna look stupid there for a second... Nah, I still look kinda stupid, don't I?

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

Working with the above factors constituting what is "medieval," let me see what makes sense to me: Out of Feudalism, Castles, Mounted Warfare, Cities, Royal Power, and A Merchant Class, D&D neither implies nor denies most of these. I think Mounted Warfare is in D&D (the feats), and there has...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

Fair enough. I wanted to see what medieval was. Now, I flatter myself that I know a good deal of history, but I figured I shouldn't just count on my personal knowledge. So, I went to wikipedia and punched in medieval, and I got redirected to the Middle Ages, where it said: So Medieval just...

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

Exactly. Vampires allow modern guy to use sword instead of gun, and is good.

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

You may be right, but it would seem wrong for vampires to be afraid of guns, wouldn't it? I mean, they're not afraid of them in any significant source material I'm aware of.

    Best non-WotC Base Classes?

Anyone ever had a problem using the non-magic AE classes in regular D&D? Follow-up: how hard would the AE spellcasters be to adapt?

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

This is absolutely counter to my experience. Are you sure we've played the same nWoD? (I will say the D&D has a separation between PCs and monsters, where lower CR monsters are designed to die more quickly, is that the slow-down you mean? Because in nWoD, if you are a human investigator, you...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

A New Question It seems the vast majority of opinions are the D&D is not really medieval, and perhaps never was. Which begs the question, is that really a bad thing? I mean, the options do exist out there for making it medieval (This being perhaps the best one), but someone pointed out the D&D...
