How Do You Keep Track of All Your RPG Books?

I cleaned my collection. Anything that isn't used fairly regular, gets sold or gifted. I did it with all books, not just rpg. On the other hand, adventure modules never were my thing. Core and player option books only, with occasional setting book and only for the games that will actually be...

How Do You Keep Track of All Your RPG Books?

I don't. On the other hand, i'm not a collector of RPG books. I have a shelf with physical books, but i rarely buy anything new.

D&D General Greyhawk to Faerun and Beyond: A Multiversal D&D Lore Book Is Coming This Fall

I'm glad they left out Dark Sun. Would be more happy if they dropped Ravenloft also. Not cause i don't like the settings, quite opposite, those are my two favorite settings. Personally, don't care for most settings in the book, except Planscape and Spelljammer. As for DS and Ravenloft, i...

    D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

Campaign we play for the last year or so is human only with a twist. There are magical infusions giving you traits of mythological beings ( elves, dwarfs, dragonborn etc). So you gain mechanical traits of other races, but still look like human. Real fantasy races do exist, but they are less than...

Which fantasy TRPGs do you think truly reflect the characteristics of firearms as Game Changers?

7th sea. Firearms are deadly. Combined with swordsman school that focuses on guns, you can often one shot kill unharmed opponent. While they are still slow and mostly one shot and then draw sword, getting hit hurts. Alot.

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

Why is railroading always talked about in negative context? Some groups enjoy railroads. Good DM can turn railroad into roller coaster. It twists, turns, goes up and down, but it always stays on track and doesn't allow for deviations. You can also enforce those rails by social contract. I'm...

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

It takes both GM work, but also takes proactive players who have formed ideas what they want to do. Both sides need to put some work to make sandbox game run well.

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

I have read only Ravenloft campaign setting and Domains of dread, Van Richten guides plus some novels from TSR era. Black box? You mean Ravenloft box set? Personally, i like 2ed Ravenloft. It's solid world building. Sure better than sorry excuse we got in 5e (VR guide to Ravenloft is pure drek).

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

Some of them quite easily in straight up combat. Darklords of Borca are Ivana Boritsi and Ivan Dilisnya, both 0-lv humans. 8hp, AC10, THC0 20. Except poison kiss and poison touch, they have nothing special. Regular humans. In 2ed Domains of Dread, when you read descriptions of domains, they...

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

That's kind of point of setting imho. Land itself is evil. Darklords could be killed like normal creatures ( roll initiative, drop them to 0 hp, they die, same as any other monster) but they would rise again, or someone else would take their place. They could be defeated ( special ways unique to...

D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

Used it couple of times. It's decent and get's job done. It's faster than scrolling trough google and searching for appropriate art.

TSR How Did I Survive AD&D? Fudging and Railroads, Apparently

One of the core principles of Ravenloft is removal of player agency. What makes it truly dreadful is that in the end, what ever you decided or did, ulitmatley doesn't matter. You killed Darklord? Every domain is in essence personal version of hell for it's Darklord. They are Darklords, they rule...

D&D General Of Consent, Session 0 and Hard Decisions.

As someone who has been that 1st person, no, i don't wan't to be that person. Unfortunately, i have some experience with serious trauma and for some reason people seem to find me trustworthy enough to open up even when we aren't really good friends. It's both honor and great responsibility. I...

D&D General Of Consent, Session 0 and Hard Decisions.

I have 4 regulars. If i want to run something specific and more than one is not on board, i'm happy to let someone else in group DM's. If no one has anything ready, i'm ok with not playing until someone else prepares their game. Until then, we can play Descent ( as we did on several occasions...

D&D General Of Consent, Session 0 and Hard Decisions.

My thinking goes in line with @Scribe. As a player, i'm the one who is responsible with which content i will or won't engage. Same as him, i turned down games. FE i had burnout on D&D and fantasy in general. Told my friends. Offered to run oWoD or 7th sea, but they weren't into it. They had fun...

OSR Old school wizards, how do you play level 1?

Even then, they aren't fun. Slowest xp progression, very low hp (unless you rolled at least 15 for con, 2 hp on average), low AC (unless you rolled at least 15 for dex, you have AC 10), 1 spell per day. Lv 1 wizards die if someone sneezes hard in their direction. Giving them name is optimistic...

D&D General Of Consent, Session 0 and Hard Decisions.

That one is easy as it requires minimal lore tweak on behalf of DM to accommodate player. Instead of having spider fetish, Lolth now has bat fetish, drow are all about bats, it fits thematically with Underdark and everyone is happy. If DM knows in advance that one of the players has...

OSR Old school wizards, how do you play level 1?

I don't. Played only one Wizard in 2ed. It died 20 minutes after first session started in stupid bar brawl. 2hp wizard killed by dwarf sailor with 1d3+1 knife. After that, i go MC route, first 2-3 levels of fighter, than go into wizard. To be fair, lv 1 wizards weren't fun in 3ed. Hp got...

I agree. I met lots of new people trough gaming, including people i now consider my closest friends (one is my best man, 2 others are godfathers to my kids). In my 20+ years of gaming, not one of the groups was friend group first that started gaming together. It was gaming group that became...

Yes, but you will expand your customer base. In the end, WoTC is for profit company. D&D is consumer market product. They want to reach as many consumers as they can.
