You hardly have to automate it to play it. Macros just make gameplay faster in exchange for more setup. Done once. But you can play it fine without most of that.

Unless you're using a certain magical belt, you can't pick up random items and use them with your ki focus. It only works with things you're proficient with, and nobody is proficient with improvised weapons. A lot of people seem to be making this mistake.

It also does an extra d8 per hit. So it's 3d8 if all three hit, plus 4d6 from Shroud. That's pretty good stuff.

Actually, it doesn't count as an implement for monks. Or weapon. The only thing monks can do with shuriken and slings IS a ranged basic attack. (Or MC into Rogue.) Shuriken and slings aren't monk weapons, which are also the only thing they can use as implements. Which is a little weird...

Are you allowed to attack while grabbing something? And can you still move something you're grabbing while err, "riding" it?

Speaking of Dance of the Stinging Hornet, if you use it on a enemy larger than you... they are NOT immobilized. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of grabbing them? Now you're basically just riding the enemy around. Kinda funny, but how is that really useful?
