Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2E - does it play better than it looks at first glance + guides/resources for new DMs

This doesn't sound negative at all, I had the same skepticism of the game's changes during it's playtest. Now it's my game of choice, I run it every week. I'll address the points you brought up, then share my experience with running the game in a practical sense. Small Bonuses - Welcome to...

The new Doctor has been announced!

What kind of doctor will this new one be? I'm not familiar with the actor so I don't really have a good idea what character direction their going to take the doctor this time around. As I recall the old ones (from the eras I was watching) went something like this: 9th - Defeated optimist. 10th...

Absalom, City of Lost Omens In-Depth Review

That's because many NPCs show up at multiple locations, sometimes multiple districts. What on earth are you talking about? The original book was 64 pages long. In what universe is writing 6 times as much stuff "watering down"? It's not like Absalom became that much better or a safer place to...

Pathfinder 2E How is Pathfinder doing?

There was a deliberate decision to have someone other than Wayne Reynolds do the Lost Omens cover artwork...probably because there's only such much time WR has in a year to make covers for paizo :P. The artist for Grand Bazaar and many other Lost Omens books is Ekaterina Burmak. I think she's a...

Pathfinder 2E How is Pathfinder doing?

Pathfinder 2e has become my comfort game. It's comfy for me to read lore about, theorycraft about, and easy for me to run. The prepared adventures are extensively detailed and the published content on Foundry makes setup very fast. I went through the Beginner Box on Foundry with some of my...

D&D General Orcs on Stairs (When Adventures Are Incomplete)

Hoard of the Dragon Queen comes to mind, specifically the part with riding wyverns. You pass an animal handling check and get to participate in the next part of the adventure or you fail and don't.

D&D General Fanatics & Zealots: How to Use Extremism in Antagonists and Villains in Your Campaigns (+)

Very comprehensive and well written. I would just like to add that anyone interested in this topic should read the original Dune novels if they want to read fiction that is primarily concerned with extremism and the people/circumstances that cause it.

Spelljammer Watch these preview videos -- SPELLJAMMER minis, Adventures in Space, Trailer

I agree, the two were basically redundant. It's like the Drift in Starfinder, it's basically redundant with the Astral Plane and/or Maelstrom. Besides, I never liked the Phlogiston. Substituting real life space, which is an awesome locale for adventures and hazards in it's own right, for...

Pathfinder 1E Are people still playing Pathfinder 1e?

I saw James Jacobs post somewhere that he wanted less of those and to have more of the ones they have be large amounts of tiny enemies instead of one big bastard of a monster. Sounds like a good idea to me, my players like bonking legions of small enemies more than throwing 40% chance to hit...

Pathfinder 1E Are people still playing Pathfinder 1e?

If nothing else they make good shelf items. The art in them has always been on the strong side, and as books they're still quite readable. I still pull out my 1e Gamemastery Guide sometimes because it has lots of general advice running games that the 2e version has none of for instance.

How do you feel about stretch goals?

Do you guys remember the Order of the Stick kickstarter that set a backer record in it's time? It kept on adding more stretch goals the more backer money was added, and it ended up delaying everything (including the comic itself) by years. Ever since I've been skeptical of Kickstarters that...

D&D 5E (2014) Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

@darjr Excellent diligence, I didn't catch any of those. I searched mainly for the big name games (Path/Starfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars, Warhammer, etc). If it isn't policy it might be an informal thing. I remember seeing an interview with JC around the release of Dragon Heist where he...

D&D 5E (2014) Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

D&D is the gateway to this hobby. It's brand recognition is unparalleled in it's niche. Why would Wizards want to allow anything they make and control to contribute to the brand recognition of competing products? I even suspect this is policy within Wizards. Try to find any mention of other...

D&D 5E (2014) Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

No way. Either Wizards partners with VTTs or makes their own. Buying a company that has obligations to other tabletop companies is more trouble than it's worth. They either do their best to not act anti-competitive and still get accused of preferential treatment of their own products, or...

D&D 5E (2014) Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

This is based on nothing. I can't find any mention of this anywhere. OP, why did you post this? This is just going to confuse people.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hasbro Acquires D&D Beyond For $146M

We'll see how they do then. It'll have the benefit of being made for a singular ruleset, but VTTs truly run the gamut from awesome to abysmal. I don't think there's any way to predict how it'll turn out, so I'm going to wait and reserve judgement until there are previews and product demos.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Officially Supporting Foundry, Free Content Ending

We know that Sigil worked with Narchy of NarchyMaps to create the battle maps for the current three VTT projects. You're right in that it isn't solely community devs working on the project, but we've already seen one of the biggest names of the PF2e community become a part of the official process.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hasbro Acquires D&D Beyond For $146M

This is a good move for WotC, as I think most here agree. Hopefully their future VTT plans involve integrating D&D Beyond into existing services rather than making their own. Paizo just got a partnership with Foundry VTT; if they can afford to hire people to make VTT versions of their content...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Officially Supporting Foundry, Free Content Ending

There's a reason for this. Here's a chart the PF2e Foundry team put out to show just how ridiculously large the code base has gotten: The scale at which new code and updates to code is done in the system rivals that of Foundry itself. Foundry having the GitLab repo accomplishes a few things...
