For what it's worth, my whine-log:

The first of fifteen serially stalled login attempts on four different browsers.

I'm frustrated. For yuks I call national reservations for Embassy Suites while I watch my time-outs happen. The rep is very specific that I can call the Indy...
I'm getting thoroughly discouraged. My one successful login ended after I clicked for confirmation, and was told that those dates were no longer available.
Now a search for the dates of the con returns:
"No lodging matches your search criteria. Please change your search options and retry"...
Mods; in the interest of more-warning-is-better, is it worth Sticky-ing this thread for a couple of days, in case their callback mechanism for the wiped reservations has problems too? :uhoh:
I believe the original is an oil painting called The Bagpiper, by Thomas Couture from 1877. I think it's held by the National Gallery in Dublin.
It is a good representation of the halfling bard that I started with when I began playing again.

A special group of friends all take the day off to reunite for a picnic. It's a lovely summer morning, but something strange may be happening back at work and home...
I started playing again last year after most of two decades off. Last week, the campaign I'd been playing in officially went on...
This is very useful information - thank you all. :)
Are there any more recommendations for hotels? I will want to stay in one of the 'connected' ones or very close by, but price may be a factor as I don't have any travelling companions who are planning on going (yet).
I appreciate the third...
While idly discussing summer travel plans with my spouse, we discovered that I'm planning to go to Gen Con this year. While he wasn't completely surprised, I was. I'm really excited and would appreciate any guidance the community might have.
I have been to Gen Con before...
Wow. All of the traditional plot elements have just been thrown into the blender...
And hey - is Belkar having an Animal Empathy moment with Mr Scruffy???
Paradox42,
Thank you! That was the nicest compliment I received all week. I have no realtime friends who would understand what it means, of course. - I clearly need more gaming friends.
Back to the OP thread topic; I've got a bluegrass instrumental of Led Zeppelin's 'Misty Mountain Hop' that...
I attended the four GenCons from 83-86 and enjoyed them a great deal. I know it's probably a very different event now, but after a long interregnum I'm back into gaming again and I find I want to attend again.
Having attended the recent GameDay in Providence, the ENWorld ShadowCon makes it that...
That's not what I meant - I was talking about an actual game of Paranoia with Yanni as the cheesy, chronic 'motivating' theme for every battle.
Come to think of it, I think I like your idea. Doing this in a standard D&D game would be quite evil. It's a way to get the party casters to target...
Paranoia + Yanni = Amusingly strung out and stressed players. :]
Just cue up the same driving, cloying, claptrap track of choice every time a fight starts. It's quite evil.
Thehubby and i are going out to a bacchanalia at The Alley, Boston's bearish haunt. It might be fun, we haven't been out for a couple o' pints with the hairy folk in years...
Brimshack, you are amazingly prepared for this thread; did you happen to stat up Dire Kiwi Fruit ?
I'd bet they're highly acidic.

Edited for grammar.
I've posted about this party in a similar thread before, but we started the Age of Worms with:
Cleric (of Heironeous)
Favored Soul (of Corellon Larethian)
Monk
3 Bards
The bards started diversifying into other classes after first level, but it was kinda scary for a while...
Now, Belkar's still under the curse, isn't he?
So he shouldn't be able to actually do any damage to anyone, ally or enemy, despite Nale's charm, which Nale is probably unaware of... right?
Edited for typos.
Did anyone read an old fantasy novel called "The Kindly Ones?"
For the longest time I've wanted to play a game where the players all play familiars, animal companions, celestial steeds, cohorts, or other beastial and special associates of an adventuring party, maybe with a strong fey tie-ins...
Tiamat always bugged me. I always thought she and that creepy Dungeon Master were trying way too hard to look like they were fighting.
Sadly, noone seems to revere Brandobaris anymore.
