    D&D terminology pet peeves

I use "the Fey" for "those that are fey/have fey qualities", personally. I also use "A fey creature" rather than just "a fey". As for dwelfs, I believe Rolemaster had them in one of the monster books. My buddies and I thought we had come up with them until we saw that. How about a...

Hunter, Slayer what else can you call a monster killer?

    CONAN: Shadizar map debacle?

I feel like crap now. I tried to edit my post after I had given it some thought-but it had already been quoted. My connection of the dots (based on the non-working link to his site alone) should have been kept to myself, or confirmed privately. Now his name is being bandied about, and he’s not...

    CONAN: Shadizar map debacle?

He did the excellent maps for my Morningstar Setting. No matter what people have thought of the setting, they've always said the maps were great. This is a real shame. Edit: I know the maps in Morningstar were original because he worked from my 1st drafts, which are on my desk beside me.

nevermind... no need to add speculation.

For someone looking to branch out...

While I like D20 a lot, I'd say not to go with another d20 system. If you're feeling adventurous, I'd say to *really* broaden your horizons. I'd say try a game with a vastly different set of design goals. Unfortunately, I'm not one to recommend any 'modern' or new non-d20 games, but prior to...

    Time Travel

But at least one 'you' should survive. Then you get to kill all the other yous and take their mojo, and pull all kinds of kung fu stunts, until you're the One.

    Fey Lore

I'm not sure I can give too much away, but I think I can do what a normal reader could do- which is post the table of contents: Preface............................................................................................2...

    Fey Lore

Right. The CG to Fey is coming out in print in the next few weeks. I've seen the PDF, I like the art a lot.

    Alignment Axis expansion

I've always wanted to use "Active-Passive" as a 3rd axis. It would define a character's commitment to the ideals of the other aspects of their alignment. You could be actively or passively neutral for instance (Balance-Seeker or Indifferent). For simplicity one intensity level would apply to...

    Planet names of Settings

Morningstar is a binary world; The larger of the two is where most of the action currently takes place. The Larger world is called Thraxis, and its sister is called Arril. The larger world is about 3 times the size of earth, and the smaller one is bit bigger than mars-sized. It's fantasy...

    gestalt characters

How do you guys handle the damage-dealing to save/BAB ratio? My understanding is that when an arcane caster has almost twice as many fireballs 'balance' can break down, and that some GMs might want to raise the CR to compensate, which leads to a quick death. The PCs get too big for their...

Which Campaign Setting has the best fluff? Why?

It wasn't directed at you. It was just a piece of info on the Setting Search that I decided wasn't pertinent... No big deal.

    What about Parents?

My mother is schizophrenic, with a religious bent. Way back when the D&D cartoon was on, she caught me watching it, ripped the TV out of the wall, and threw it outside.... Fast forward a few years, and I'm a 4th (or 5th?) grader interested in mythology. I was living with my aunt and uncle. I...

    Fey Lore

I'm in a bit of a hurry, but everything you mention here can be accomplished with the book. There is a light and dark side to the fey, and each host of fey has its own style. I don't know about the Bastion book, but this book isn't a monster manual, it's a toolkit. You can do everything from...

    Fey Lore

Sorry, didn't notice this before... It largely depends on if the GM allows fey PCs, but one PrC is specifically intended for non-fey: The Twilight Warlock. He gets access to Fey magics, and some other benefits. The book is written with Fey campaigns in mind- using either PC or NPC fey. I'd...

    Fey Lore

Fey as presented in the CG to Fey are very alien to start; but you can swing them one way or the other as you like. There is one race that starts out a bit 'cute' (urchin) but that's about it. I think that an innocent race like that works well in a dark fantasy game ("The Quest to Save the...

    Fey Lore

I wrote a book called "The Complete Guide to Fey" for Goodman Games. I'm usually pretty hard on my own stuff but I like how this one turned out. Last I knew it was at the printer. It should be coming out soon. The CG to Fey presents a set of rules for creating new fey (which can be used for...
