I would have kept class archtypes and levels. These are some of the most addictive features of the game. And I would not have used a vancian spell system. In fact, if you want to see what kind of game I would have made, take a look at Blue Rose (and maybe roll back the 'romantic' fantasy a tad).

RE: Fields of Blood As others have mentioned, FoB requires a new skill in its mass combat rules : Command. However, I wouldn't worry about that- if I were running a battle, I would just substitute BAB for all the required rolls if you didn't want to commit to a new skill. Main prob with FOB...

I'm thinking at least a few of the writers of that skit are gamers. Its hard to write about something you know nothing about.
