GenCon, sleep, hard-core gaming and drowsy driving

Re: Tip #7 OMG your RIGHT! I've noticed it myself. If I need some shuteye, I'm great with a catnap, and I'm great with a 2 hour nap. If I try getting up after 1 hour, I feel like crap.

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Weapon size and use

The variant rules in the DMG should take care of that problem, but it sucks that you should need a variant rule. No, I'm with you, dude. Before, all you needed was the weapon size and you could extrapolate all kinds of info from the weapon. Now you need an extra layer of info- its size...

Do you admit to being a gamer?

I'm out of the closet with my good friends, many of which are/were gamers. My family knows I used to game, but they don't know I started playing again in 2001. And I'm totally in the closet about it at work. We bust each others b:)lls constantly, and I refuse to give them ammo.

Cry Havoc or Fields of Blood?

Wasn't Fields of Blood coming out this month? I was hoping to pick it up at GenCon. I've been seeing ads for it in the 'zines.

    Monster Manual 3.5. Art Gallery

Hmmm. Do you think Elmore's PO'ed? Both his pics are gone, but I do like the new nymph. Looks more like a fey and less like an eighties hair-band groupie. I'm sure the new dryad pic is more accurate, but I'll miss the old one- it was quite good. Ditto on the blink dog. The old illo had...

Terminator 3 - SPOILER filled discussion

Anyone notice the discrepancies with the dates and ages of the characters? T1 was set in 1984, right? T2, according to dialogue in T3, took place when John was 13 years old. That puts T2 in 1997. But according to T3, Sarah Connor was diagnosed with leukemia and died after fighting her disease...

    T3 reviews coming in

I liked T3 a great deal. It was a tight little flik with fantastic action, good acting (I've forgotten how good Claire Danes is), a decent script, and a nice non-hollywood ending. A worthy addition to the Terminator saga, despite some plot holes. It sure looks like a set up for a T4, but the...

Horrible joke in the original Matrix...

Never caught the Reagan part, heh. :) My take on it was that the character wanted to go back in as an actor. So here he was, an actor on the big screen, leading the audience to believe that they truly are in the matrix themselves. The gag works on many levels.

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Weapon size and use

Are you telling me that a small longspear, which can't be much longer than a medium spear, provides a 10' reach to a halfling?

People Who think Bugbears are Kinda Cute Anonymous...

When I saw the blink dog, I knew I had to have one (the 3.0 version, not the 3.5 Wayne Reynolds Cujo version).:)

    Tips for 1E, 2E DM in 3E

I'll mention it as well. Make sure he KNOWS THE COMBAT CHAPTER like the back of his hand. Skills chapter as well. These two things will slow the game down the most. Make sure he knows about CR and EL. If he's not careful, he could TPK the party if he doesn't have a handle on how difficult an...

    Worst 3.5 Change

What about the new weapon size rules? I just can't seem to warm up to them. Feels more like a complication rather than a refinement.

    v3.5 Core Books on sale!

Hmm, sounds like it. I thought it was a repackaged Spellsword, but I'm glad its different.

    Weapon Size Confusion

Luckily I do have the A&EG. However, I swear I saw a thread in which Andy C mentioned that ranges won't change between sizes in the core books. I just thought that was odd.

    Weapon Size Confusion

Another annoying thing- Ranges won't change for the missile weapons. That means a medium-sized shortbow will have a range increment of 60' whereas a small longbow will still have a range in. of 100'. If you are using the weapon equivalence rule from the DMG, which bow do you think you'll pick?

What do we know about Eldritch Knights so far?

Hmm. Here I was thinking it was just the spellsword renamed. I guess its different, huh?

    Monte Cook on Revised books

Lots of people complain that 3 years is too soon, but I definitely think 10-12 years is way too long. I'm glad WotC is making money on this, and I'm glad they're revising the books. Refinement is always good.

    Paladin Warhorse

Hey, don't knock the home of Uncle Sam! And by God many film crews have come to our fine city to utilize the old architecture whenever they need a set for Old NYC. Aw who am I kidding. Its a pit. In parts. At least its not Schenectady.
