    Buffy 14 April 03

I'm relatively new to the show, so this is the first time I've seen Faith. I don't typically go for chicks like her, but man, her flirtation with Spike had me drooling.

    3.5 Facings

Hmmm. I do like he new facing rules- its simpler, which I'm always up for. However, like everything, it has its cons. Say you have two half-ogres in the party (size: large). They are both standing in a 10' corridor, side by side. Realistically they could stand next to each other, no problem...

Things you Dont Like About 3.5

I voted the Ranger combat thing ( scrap the combat styles and just give him a few extra feats!) And the Red Wizard thing (Already overloaded with arcane magic PrC's. Must we throw in TWO from FR!?!?!) I don't really begrudge the sorceror's lack of Cha skills. Diplomacy, Bluff, etc. ----- not...

    Just got Basic D&D!!

Just wanted to let you know that I love your sig. I'm gonna go have a bowl of frosted cheerios now. :p

Why so much attention on the Ranger?

Re: the combat styles---its really starting to bug me the more I think about it. I think most of the posters on this thread agree that its a bad idea. Are we just the vocal minority here, or do most D&D players feel the same way about this? More importantly, if we felt stongly enough about...

Mystic Theurge PrC - They've got to be kidding!

Hmmm. I kinda like it. I'm one of those guys who wonders why there's a distinction between arcane and divine magic anyway, and this PrC is one more step towards my idea of what magic should be. I could see this being an exclusive PrC for worshippers of Boccob.

Any comments on my dungeon mag adventure?

Interesting adventure. I'd like to run it if I ever get my players to that point. Were you inspired by the old OD&D Companion-level adventure Earthshaker by any chance?

Why is Meepo the Mighty saving the day so often? (spoilers for Sunless Citadel!)

I enjoyed role-playing Meepo for my group, although he was beheaded shortly thereafter by a certain blade trap. He was then.... (spoilers) ....resurrected as a zombie with the whistle. They used an iron spike to keep his head on. Later his head fell off again, so they replaced it with a...

    Snipers?

Re: Snipers Dropping prone IS a free action, and I really like Felix's solution. Now is a good time for common sense to override the rules.

Mortality Radio # 30: Ed Stark interview available...

Totally agree. The only class who needs a "fighting style" is the monk. Wouldn't it have been easier to just give the ranger a few extra feats and leave it at that? I'll prolly buy the books anyway, tho. *sigh* :(

    [3.5E] Change to Track feat?

Agreed. Plus, the extra two skill points were sorely needed; by forcing the ranger to max out a new skill that he otherwise didn't need to before (search), it kind of deflates the benefits. I guess most rangers will be taking the same skills now: Survival Search Spot Listen Move S Hide...

    D&D for Beginners (new product)

I don't think thats going to happen, Geoffrey. I think WotC would rather poke its own eyes out than suffer the whole "basic/advanced" nightmare again. This game is meant to be an introduction to the "full" game, nothing more. I see maybe 5 levels at most. I agree about the artwork, though. If...

    Taking away the shame...of Roleplaying!

You can try to be elitist if you wish, but the fact is sports are a widely accepted mainstream activity whereas gaming is not. Athleticism is deeply ingrained in american culture. The all-star Qb is a popular guy in HS, nevermind that he'll be working at Pizza Hut for the rest of his life...

    Taking away the shame...of Roleplaying!

Hmmm. The guys I play with do seem extremely geeky, but I think its because being at the game table allows you to let it "all hang out" so to speak. But they are normal adults otherwise, with wives, children, mortgages. etc. When you sit at a table covered with polyhedrons, your guard comes down...

    Taking away the shame...of Roleplaying!

Sorry to take so long to get back to you guys. Wasn't around this weekend. I'm 32. I'm a closet gamer, and I'm having difficulty trying to place the reasons why. I work in a fairly conservative business-like environment, although some of my co-workers do have geekly interests; they read...

    Taking away the shame...of Roleplaying!

I think I probably would act that way. I'm a closet gamer, through and through. The only ones who know I game are gamers themselves.

Children of Dune - (nearly) live discussion

I thought the show was fantastic. Just for the record, no, I haven't read the books. I rented the first series on DVD and watched it before this one-- first thing I noticed- the fx were 10x better. I suppose they have a bigger budget and better technology this time around. The whole sequence...

They were still blue---but I guess they went with a more subtle effect.

    3.5 Ranger Combat Styles

If you want to play a character like this, play a fighter or paladin. If you want your ranger to wear half-plate, he can grab a level of fighter. Or spend the feat. I just don't think the stealthy outdoorsman archtype should start with heavy armor proficiency.

    3.5 Ranger Combat Styles

Agreed. Nah. Just give them their d10. Easier, simpler, more intuitive. We want to refine D&D not make it more complicated. Disagree. Sounds like power inflation to me. And like I said, we're after refinement here.... this would slow down character generation. Creating NPCs is a pain already...
