What NON-OBVIOUS stuff would you like to see in Revised?

Re: slight thread hijack I agree completely. Ability score drain is nasty stuff and MUCH simpler. Masters of the Wild has more toughness feats like Dwarf's toughness (+6 hp, prereq: fort +5) and dragon's toughness. If you have the book, that is.

What NON-OBVIOUS stuff would you like to see in Revised?

I can understand why people want better Cha skills for sorcerors, but I think many were left off his list because they weren't right for the class. When you think of a sorceror, do you think of a great diplomat? A fantastic trainer of animals? A person who hangs out in bars to suck up all the...

I have not purchased a gaming book of any kind in over a year

We play regularly, but the last thing I bought was Masters of the Wild when it first came out. How long ago was that? When I'm in Barnes and Noble, I love to peruse the rpg books. But I never buy. Only books I want- the Book of War and the Revised core. Then life will be complete. I'm in the...

Did you use minis and grids pre-D&D3?

Hmm plexiglass----can you use dry-erase on that? I was thinking of getting a square yard of it from Home Depot.

Did you use minis and grids pre-D&D3?

Our OD&D campaign used a shoebox full of LEGO castle mini-figs leftover from our childhood. We had all the cool accessories-weapons, armor, treasure chests, even a dragon. We had it all. We just needed them to show who was attacking what and we didn't really use any hard movement rules. But we...

New cover art for the Revised PHB and DMG?

Ok, still confused.......laughing? screaming? Both? ANyway, the guy seems to have a thing for Geiger's alien is my only, probably unoriginal point. Check the walls and the statues on the cover of S&S. The crouching thing on Fortress, and the demon with the lash on T&B.

New cover art for the Revised PHB and DMG?

One vote for the current tome covers. They're more mature than previous editions. One vote against the dungeon-punk look, although I do agree that its only a select few of the illustrations that are guilty of this: Hennet, Nebbin, and all the armor illustrations in the equipment chapter. The...

The Hobbit: Theatrical Release or TV Mini-Series?

Its not a question of 'if' it will get made, but 'when'. And I think it will be a feature film. New Line again. 3 hours. Its their biggest cash cow. How could they not make a prequel? Plus the fact that more people have read the hobbit than LotR. And we have the battle of 5 armies. More...

    resting and spellcasting

Hmmm. I guess not. Even tho you only had about two hours of intense adventure action, the 8 hours of quiet time you had in your cell probably would have done the trick. From the PHB, it sounds like all you need are 8 hours of uninterrupted rest. Thats all. You don't even have to be asleep the...

    resting and spellcasting

Re: Re: resting and spellcasting I guess what I mean is that I have difficulty deciding how much virtual time has passed. Sometimes I don't know what to tell the sorcerer when he asks if his mage armor spell is still on. Its an acquired skill I suppose. And thanks for the posts, BTW. ;)

    Am I addicted to D&D?

Too much of anything is bad for you. But like you said, gaming is your (other) job. I guess you're allowed to be obsessed with it to a certain degree, if it helps to put food on the table. You know when you are addicted to something if it interferes with your "normal" life. In other words...

Counterspelling: What is the correct procedure?

Awwww. How boring. :p I guess there is a certain danger to how you describe the action. In last nights game i described it as exactly that- the rays of frost impacted on each other in the middle of the room, disintegrating into a puff of snowflakes.

    Facing?

sometimes the books do forget about its own facing rules, though. I've heard complaints that tower shields introduce facing plus you have monsters like the frostworm that have a facing of something like 5' by 30', which sounds like its actual dimensions rather than the abstract space it takes...

Counterspelling: What is the correct procedure?

Just used a counterspell last night. It was during the big bad fight at the end of the Sunless Citidel. The player is kinda new to 3e and he thought it was pretty neat to see his ray of frost intercepted like a scud missile. Fight didn't go well, tho. Anyway I have a question and this seems...
