I've thrown out Knowledge(local) entirely. Who wants a skill that becomes useless when you travel away from the area of your expertise? I make due with gather info, Kn(geography) and basic Intelligence checks. I'd love to role spot+listen+sense motive+search into a catch-all "perception"...

Admittedly, I'm disappointed as well. I was looking forward to seeing what kind of improvements a 4e would bring. Actually, my biggest disappointment was to hear that wotc has no software in the pipeline. They pulled the license from Code Monkey, and yet they have no plan B.

I liked how 3e tried to make all 20 levels playable, its just that they dropped the ball after about 12th level. They could work on that. I've thought about this too. It would be nice if 4e had explicit rules-light and rules-heavy guidelines right in the same book. Easier said than done...

How about we change the definition of a class skill? Lets say a class skill gives you a one-time +3 bonus in that skill. Characters wouldn't need to start 1st level with 4x skill points, and the max ranks for any skill could = character level. If you multiclass into something that already has...

I agree with everything you're saying. Of course, I'm one of the wacky ones who think a game like D&D needs to be revised every three years rather than every ten. As the most well-known rpg on the planet, you'd think it would be refined into the silky-smooth, user-friendly "ipod" of rpgs by now...

I'm hoping for a minor revision (whatever edition you want to call it) that would refine the bumps and wrinkles in the rules, but not so major that it would render 3.5 material useless. Of course, I only say that for the sake of my gaming buddies who have shelves and shelves of 3.5 crap...
