There is so much wrong with this I don't know where to start. Regardless of the aesthetic choice made in using one stat block or another... WotC never stole anything from EGG, changing the CRs of monsters doesn't equate to bigger profits, claiming people who play Dungeons & Dragons have never...
Well... since players choose their alignment and can now (IIRC) change without penalty, it's the best of both worlds right? Alignment isn't a slot you fit into any more, it's a coat you wear.
However you want it really. Alignment is so loosely defined and has few (but noticeable) game effects...
It depends on the game and the type of prep being done. To me gaming has randomness, even if there is no winner or loser.
Prep time for a game like Traveller and O/AD&D is much like gaming - in the former the prep is purposefully given form. While randomness is not as encouraged in the latter...
It's a well-designed adventure, although if the players treat the naga as a all-or-nothing final fight they'll die. They need to hit and run, wound it, poison it, trick it. Leads to some really thoughful play.
It's really not that hard, just wordy.
I would only use it when figuring out xp for large hordes of humanoids after (if? :p )the characters got past 4th level, since from that point on they were more like ammunition for big bads than actual threats.
+3 or higher, just to keep them out of the game (but keep them at CR+1). They're a part of the DM's toolbox, not a PC race.
They're a vile matriarchal chaotic evil society. Why is it that every one you meet is a chaotic good male (with two swords, natch)?
That's my main gripe with clerics/sorcerers/wizards. Unless you really need the turning ability (or more powerful familiar, in the case of the arcanes), there is no hard choice involved in taking a prestige class. Well, unless "does this one have full casting ability?" counts as a hard choice.
I let the player choose - 28 points, or roll 4d6 seven times and pick the best six scores. I freely switch between nonelite, elite, 28 points, 30+ points and completely random when making NPCs.
You're right, although letting the party pick their own items can be more convenient.
Try limiting them by only allowing one item at a set percentage of their loot value, and give the rest as random rolls. New PCs in my game come in one full level lower than the lowest party member, with full...
Intruder, a game that tried to cash in on the movie Alien. It's sort of a semi-serious version of Awful Green Things in Outer Space. The two-player game feels a bit scripted (you don't get to make a lot of meaningful choices if you're the aliens). It offers a "solo" version of the game which is...
Had to vote "Like, doesn't hurt WotC," but it's a bitter pill. I'd much rather be able to pick and choose from a huge selection of prepainted minis at low prices, but that's a pipe dream.
Never been kicked out. I played in a game that wasn't that fun once, and never checked back with anyone to see if there was going to be another session.
I am interested to see if the trend of "Yes, but it was because I was the BEST player/DM in the group and and nobody could stand my...
Well, as I noted I'm "probably reading more into it than what's there."
But I didn't even look at the dates on those blogs. Eh, whoever heard of a detective named Uder anyway.
So... any clue when you'll be able to confirm that a Greyhawk hardcover is coming out?
