Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

I’m not convinced of that. Given that it seems like these “DLCs” are going to include updates to pre-2024 subclasses, I don’t believe that their contents never being released is on the table, at all.

I mean, optometry should be included as a part of general health care, which is a basic human right and should be guaranteed for everyone instead of offered as an employment benefit, so… yes. Sure, but if I actually own the book, I have the ability to spend as much or as little effort trying to...

D&D General Mike Mearls' blog post about RPG generations

The terms did originate on the forge, and personally, I think the forge was a net positive for the hobby. But, there was a lot of positive and a lot of negative there, and again, people have strong opinions about it, and about Ron Edwards that tend to overshadow more productive discussions of...

Again, you’re acting like this is the only issue I’m being active about. It’s not. It’s just the one that’s relevant to this discussion, in this thread, on this forum. And sorry, but I don’t think that access to real goods instead of digital licenses is a trivial matter. Maybe this specific...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

I’m not convinced those are the only options. Even assuming it’s not economically feasible for WotC to offer this material in print right now, the worst case scenario would be that they save it for a future release. And I would rather wait longer for this material to come out in another book...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Believe it or not, it’s possible to care about more than one thing at a time. I am also very concerned about the stork and trying to get more of my fellow frog nerves involved in using our collective power to try and escape it.

I’m quite happy with the chemicals in the water turning me gay, thank you very much 🤣

Again, this is a very, very different situation that WotC deciding to sell a portion of the content for their upcoming Forgotten Realms sourcebooks as “DLC.” A requirement for what though? Of course it shouldn’t be essential for any and all written media. I’ve already said I’m ok with some...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Again, we are all collectively one frog. If we don’t collectively decide to get out of the water, none of us will get out of it. That’s why I think this is an important issue; it’s not just about what we as individuals will tolerate, it’s about what is good or bad for consumers as a whole...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Sure. That’s probably not the ideal model. Maybe save some of that content for a later release. Or sell the smaller books print on demand. Or come up with another approach. But make your content available in a physical form somehow.

D&D General Mike Mearls' blog post about RPG generations

Well for one thing that’s not really what they’re meant to describe within the model. For another, the terms are just… inflammatory. Not intentionally so by any means, but. Everyone involved in discussing RPGs online seems to have strong opinions about the forge, GNS, and its creator, and it’s...

D&D General Mike Mearls' blog post about RPG generations

Probably because the “big model” is quite complex, and was developed through a lot of online discussion over time, but finalized mostly independently of that discussion. So, a lot of people who think they’re familiar with “GNS” haven’t read all that was written on it and have underdeveloped...

D&D General Mike Mearls' blog post about RPG generations

Naive feels like a good way to put it. A player who has zero experience with RPGs still knows they’re games, and on trying to learn to play will often start with questions like “what’s the object of the game?”

I mean, if they did, they’d be wildly missing the point of the model.

D&D General Mike Mearls' blog post about RPG generations

Well it doesn’t use either of those terms, and people don’t seem to tie as much of their identities up into the aesthetics. Though that may be because it’s a much lesser-known model in the RPG sphere, perhaps because it’s not specific to RPGs. It was mainly about video games, but is applicable...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

My point is, more of their customers should be concerned about this, because it’s a troubling move. The water is getting warmer, and we shouldn’t just be sitting here while it does so. I don’t care for it because it’s worse for consumers. Yeah, it’s only like a degree or two warmer, it’s not...

Digital content is not inherently bad. Having no physical option is bad.

And they also can’t go digital-only and see no drop off in sales. I hope enough people see this anti-consumer tactic for what it is to show WotC that this is the worse route to go down. Yep, the economy is certainly in a terrible place. All the more reason to be looking out for ourselves and...

These “DLC” are going to be digital only, which I greatly dislike.

I’m pretty sure I’m missing context here cause this looks like it was said in response to some post I can’t see. But, uh, Shadowheart is the only human female romance option. A lot of the playerbase romance her only because they want to do a romance and they don’t want to do it with a male or...
