    Computer Problem Fixed! Thanks!

I think that one should be OK, so barring driver corruption that isn't the source of the problem.

D&D 3.x Question on Damage Reduction from a new 3.5 DM

You've got it all correct except the last. DR does not apply to spell damage (most of the time). Specifically it doesn't apply to force and elemental damage. Magic Missile does full damage. There are some rare exceptions. If you make a normal sword with Major Creation (or something), it's...

Why recommend "upgrading" to IE7 from IE6

It should really read "Upgrade to anything else made in the last 3 years."

    Cannot geto Wushu RPG

Wushu is free - or at least, the rules are. It's like D&D/SRD. The D&D books have the flavor, but the SRD has all the rules you need. The main site looks down to me too, but like Hammerhead said, the rules are also on the wiki. There's also a variant set of rules that explains things in a...

converting a large group of pictures at once (windows + paint.net)

ImageMagick is really powerful, but it's too complex to learn for a simple job. Irfanview's batch mode is super easy for simple stuff like resizing or changing formats.

    Upgrading Windows

I don't believe there is an "upgrade path" between those two operating systems, so no.

    Rules bits we already know

Someone, could you add new edits in italics or something? It's hard to pick them out.

    Computer Problem Fixed! Thanks!

ACPI compliant motherboards (basically all of them now days) should support proper shutdown. Perhaps your motherboard didn't detect right? I'd try updating your motherboard drivers and BIOS. Also, go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager. Check the device "Computer" (I think) and...

    Hit points per encounter, perhaps?

I agree that Reserve Points are fairly likely. Since Mearls worked on IH, it seems a logical way to go. I think HP are one of the sacred cows that are here to stay, so whatever they choose will have to work with HP. On the topic of resource management, I suspect that's going to have a MUCH...

Polymorph - Where do I find the most current version of these spells?

Yes. I don't think the actual spell has changed, only the details of how it's used. In 3.0 they actually re-wrote it in Tome and Blood, but I don't think they did that for 3.5. PHBII has some additional info on polymorph (they made it a subschool) so that might help clarify if you have it.

Can someone agree with me here?

I'm gonna guess you're running Windows XP. Windows XP alone takes something like 300+ MB of RAM to run at full speed, so your current system is going to be a dog no matter what program you run. Add some RAM, then you can complain about speed. ;) Trust me, you'll be a lot happier with your...

Any word yet on what's happening to monsters?

Just to clarify that's from July 27th and referring to MMV, not 4e specifically.

    Thoughts on spears...

I like the changes to the spear, and shortspear was always kind of lame. Longspear is really closer to the Pike, IMO, which is definitely a 2-handed weapon, and historically not used with a shield. Your rule would effectively make it a one handed reach weapon, at least for shield users. I'm...

Any word yet on what's happening to monsters?

I think you're close. Here's my hypothesis: All monsters will be built like PC races, with racial abilities that increase with class levels. Monsters will take NPC classes like Warrior, Expert and Adept (if those are still around, or something similar), or PC classes. Types like "Monstrous...

"Some" traditional classes to get the axe - Which ones do you reckon?

In James Wyatt's Gen Con Blog, he specifically mentions playtesting both a Paladin and a Ranger. While this doesn't mean they are core classes any more, it still seems quite likely.

Hey WotC, SHOW ME THE SLA!!!

If your site is database driven, and you get /.ed or dugg or wanged, you need to have a god-like admin to keep your system up and running, and probably it will require drastic measures. Since the rest of wizards.com is still up, I can only assume that they had to kill the D&D site to keep the...

    LaTeX macros for DnD

I need to learn TeX, this would be a great excuse... Stat blocks, traps, spell blocks, MIC item blocks. An entire adventure layout could be useful for some people. Character sheets are nice too.
