    A Question on SLi Motherboards

Yup, one is fine. The motherboard comes with a "bridge" that you need to add the second card, if you ever do.

    Modifying the thri-kreen

With four legs, I'd give them a climb speed. Other than that, I think DogBackward has it right.

    Low level Crusader Feat selection

I don't have my book, but IIRC, blade meditation increases your initiator level by one when using a strike with a school's favored weapons. Also adds +1 damage with that weapon.

    Low level Crusader Feat selection

I played a low-level crusader with Extra Granted Maneuver, Stone Power and Blade Meditation. He was using a greataxe, I think. It worked out rather well. Both White Raven and Devoted Spirit list longsword as their weapon, so Blade Meditation would be doubly effective for those maneuvers. Even...

Apple Safari Beta Browser released for Windows

If you download it, it probably has a different version number under Help->About Safari. Also, there are software development mailing lists where that kind of info would get (officially) posted. Apple likes to hide "unnecessary" info from the user, and version numbers are typically part of that.

    Computer Upgrade Time

I'm using Vista Enterprise at work, which is like Business with a few extra things, mostly behind-the-scenes kind of stuff like group policies and drive encryption. Frankly, for my home computer, I'd have a hard time justifying anything more than Vista Home Basic. Aero sounds nice, but I've...

    Computer Upgrade Time

Samsung drives have 5 year warranties. I prefer them for that reason alone. Have you given any thought to soundproofing or noise reduction? After having a noisy computer, my quiet one is such a relief. Liquid cooling would certainly help with that. Hard drive suspension and a good case also...

    My Computer Freezes! Yikes!

Could be... Since the problem isn't obvious, you'll probably have to test individual components. Try the other stick of RAM, borrow a graphics card (even a crappy old one), etc... You might try going into the BIOS (F2 or DEL right away when computer boots up) and see if there's a built-in temp...

    Burning frustrations!!

I think it lets you do some of the basic menu functions, like multiple videos and chapters, but I'm not really sure. I've only used it a tiny bit. I don't do much in the way of DVD burning, so I don't know of other programs. I'm sure they're out there tho.

    My Computer Freezes! Yikes!

Antecs are usually pretty good, and it sounds like you replaced it recently. Is it still under warranty? The power supply still works, so it's probably not a power problem. It's probably dust or pet hair. Is the computer in a dusty area? Do your cats like to rub against it? Or, the fan just...

[Firefox] Turning on the popup warning

It also warns you when there's a popup by putting a small icon in the status bar at the very bottom of the window. It's a little blue-bordered box with a red X through it. Clicking on that gives the same options that the popup notification bar does.

    Burning frustrations!!

It's definitely an encoding problem. Video encoding is a huge, huge PITA. Just try a different program. DVDflick is free and pretty nice. It's also got a burner built in, or you can output an .iso file (CD/DVD image) which Nero can burn.

    My Computer Freezes! Yikes!

Ditto that. There are fans inside most Power Supplies and on many video cards. It could also be a loose heat sink on a different component, like the video card, or other chip on the motherboard. Take a look at those too, poke them gently to make sure they're still snug.

    RAM problems?

Download SIW here: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html?soptid=602 It gives you detailed info about your computer hardware and software. The website sucks, but the software is good. Start the program, go into the hardware section on the left. Find Memory. It should tell you how many sticks...

Characters that can do more without being (much) more powerful?

I gave an extra skill point and made all cross-class skills (except speak lang) cost 1 instead of 2 points. The level cap on cross-class still exists. That way, it's ok to have a few ranks in something odd, but you'll never be as good at it as someone who has it as a class skill. More variety...

    My Computer Freezes! Yikes!

What you're describing is a heat problem. Some part of your computer is overheating after it's been on for a few minutes, then freezing and causing your system to crash. Letting the system cool down lowers the temp enough to use it again. Check all the fans in your system to make sure they're...

    Devious Phylactery Hiding places.

I was thinking more along the lines of "I don't want to use any more negative energy than I have to, because I believe it is wrong and will jeopardize my chances at redemption." That could make things extra interesting, depending on what his phylactery is. If the destruction of the phylactery...

    Devious Phylactery Hiding places.

Someone (I forget who) had a good story about his lich hiding his phylactery inside the hilt of a magic sword from the lich's hoard. The PCs used it a bit, then sold it, and then the lich turned up later to scare the crap out of them. The second thing I thought of was "what if the phylactery is...

    Yet Another Variant: The Fighter...

Ah. Too many versions of Mettle. I skimmed it and assumed it was the Fort/Will version.

    Yet Another Variant: The Fighter...

I like it. The War Talents aren't overpowering, which is good because you get so many of them. You might increase the minimum level on Mettle, because it's pretty awesome. I can imagine that there might be some issues with focusing on certain abilities (a character with a +16 init (or more) at...
