What to put on DM laptop?

You NEED access to a searchable SRD. http://www.d20srd.org is good if you're online. A non-searchable version is OK, but you'll waste a lot of time poking through links if you don't know exactly where the thing you want is. I use a laptop but find it much more fun to roll actual dice, so I...

    MIC - Broken?

Which, to some extent, is true. However now everyone has DIFFERENT ornaments instead of the same boring 6. Much more interesting.

    Healing belt from MIC

There was another thread about this a while ago. (Sorry, no link.) IIRC, it seems like if folks felt 750 was too low, they raised it to 1000 and/or added the 24-hour clause, but it was mostly personal preference.

    Sneak attack and scorching ray?

I believe this is an extrapolation of the "precision-based damage" clause in the feat Manyshot. So yeah, first attack only.

    An end to scry-buff-teleport?

Me too. I think divinations in general need to be removed from the spell lists. It's OK to still have them, but they need to be special and have more DM control over their use and access. I don't want my players to have access to the Scry spell, but if my 25th level party picks up a Crystal Ball...

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

No, I'm not at all sure. It's a very grey area, as the length of this thread indicates. What it does make me realize is that I absolutely do not want to deal with the implications that this ruling creates. For that reason alone, I would not allow it in my game. It's too broad of a change.

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Should this be in rules, or perhaps house rules? RAW, I don't think it's OK. It doesn't work for an arrow either. However, I'd happily allow a bonus to the reflex save for someone who wants to ready an action to get out of the way.

    QuickTime Crashing FireFox and Explorer

Youtube is flash, not quicktime. The other two sites are both quicktime, so yah, I think there's a problem with it. I would uninstall quicktime, reboot, and then download a fresh copy from Apple and install it. Probably that'll take care of it.

    Problems with Youtube

There have been some issues with YouTube today, so it's likely them. Wait it out, I'm sure they'll fix it.

Youtube won't full screen [Edit: Nevermind, it's them]

Hm, I can confirm this. I have a pretty fresh install of Firefox 2.0.0.9 and I haven't played with a lot of settings yet. Are you using anything like flashblock or greasemonkey? I'm using flashblock, but I don't want to uninstall it to check. (I never watch fullscreen, too blurry.) It's...

    Portable Hole Question

Probably not, but read the FAQ just in case. There might be some issues opening a portal, especially a transdimensional portal, from inside an extradimensional space. As a DM, I wouldn't be very keen on this. IMO, it's a convoluted loophole that solves a problem that doesn't really need...

D&D 4E On the set of 4E: the Beholder

QFT. I did actually laugh out loud. Maybe I missed it when they announced it earlier, but they did mention that save or die effects were gone. Maybe I'm also reading too much into the video, but it did seem like the beholder had a lightning-like attack. I think it's reasonable to...

I'm actually planning it for 4th ed, and was noticing how "points of light" was going to fit rather well. Thanks for the links, I see some good stuff there.

    Apes with claw attacks?

I see no problem with replacing it, but have you ever looked at an ape's nails? I would not want to get scratched by those. Claws seem entirely appropriate to me.

    Weapon Speed

Why do you want to add weapon speed? Do you want people to put more thought into which weapons to use and make them more distinct? Do you want to make certain weapons more powerful than they are currently? What's your goal? When I first saw weapon speed, I imagined that there would be something...

    D&D 4E Alignment hint about 4E...or not?

The way your character acts (or even the description of how your character acts), and the cosmic tangibles Law, Chaos, Good and Evil should be totally separate things, and I think they've suffered from the overlap in 3.5. Detect Evil should detect Cosmic Evil, not the petty little evil of an...

    German-themed game resources

Wikipedia links for the current German states have been a bit more revealing of culture, and the WFRP resources sound interesting. I'm also investigating the Knights Templar and some other knightly orders in the area at the time. Again, thanks all!

Map Generators - What do you want?

Wow, great work on these. Thanks! Features I want to see: Grid on the wilderness map. The wilderness maps are pretty busy and it's hard to tell trees from brush and other foliage. Since these typically have different terrain effects, it's important to be able to tell exactly where they are and...
