New Feat to mimic Knight ability?

This is the point where I'd toss in the towel and say "nope, suck it up. This or nada." Just 'cause that smells like cheese. ;) That said, your plan wouldn't actually work, I think, as Test of Mettle specifically states that they do not have to move to you if it would provoke attacks of...

    Iterative Attacks for Monsters

Which, really, not a bad idea for a gazing basilisk.

    Stretching Familiar Benefits

Not the least being that it wouldn't normally come up? ;) That said, I did some digging and answered the first part of my question. So that's moot; I'll edit the original post. Moving on, we have any ideas about extending that shared range? I don't need much, but more than five feet would...

New Feat to mimic Knight ability?

Hrm. Point. I suppose all I can say is that I felt those weren't designed to balance it, from a mechanical perspective, but as a flavour thing. As in, the Knight would not suddenly be significantly more powerful if he could do those things. Still, you've got a point. :)

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

I still keep an eye out on what they're doing. I picked up Saga Edition, and I tend to stay on top of Eberron supplements. Other than that, it's sorta a touch and go thing. Picked up the Magic Item Compendium, but I've ignored a bunch of other products (the newer Complete books, for...

Classic video games that I'd replay

Oh, man. I owned all of those, but is it sad that I don't even think of them as "all that old?" I've been gaming for too long. Great games, even if I didn't love the mechanics all that much. Similarly, Epic's Castle of the Winds games were grand fun. You know, of all the Gold Box games SSI...

    Interesting class game mechanic...

I thought of Binders, from the Tome of Magic, myself, but I can certainly see the similarity to Incarnum. Sounds like an interesting mechanic, anyway - as a former player, I'm really curious how they're going to implement the whole thing. (But not curious enough to go get re-addicted; oh no...

    Stretching Familiar Benefits

I'm currently running a druid fellow, and he's soon to be picking up a familiar. (Yes, a familiar - not an animal companion. Well, one of those, too, but it's not the topic of the conversation.) Because of his heftier-than-normal hit points and BAB, as compared to a wizard or sorcerer, it...

Give me your virtual tabletop xp

I've been running with Fantasy Grounds on-and-off now for about three years, and exclusively for the last one. While there are elements of the face-to-face gameplay I miss (other than the obvious one of getting together with friends,) I'm finding it does work very well as a substitute. If...

New Feat to mimic Knight ability?

This is a little off-topic, but I tend to see that and grin - and, actually, I have made most of the Knight class features into feats. That said, I then completely removed the Knight as a class, with the idea that a fighter could, by choosing the right feats, essentially fill that niche. As...

    Nifft 10k

You know, there was a time, long, long ago, when the "crawling abomination" didn't actually increase our post count. :p For more than about a week, anyway. Ah, memories.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

I've been using a system like this for a while - since before Saga edition, so that change there amused me quite a bit - but my numbers show that it actually takes the full +BAB for it to compare, on average, to having iteratives. I've got a fairly complex spreadsheet showing that (accounting...

    Are HPs Worth the Realism?

Personally, I'd be interested. Can't say I'd use it, but interested. I tend to prefer grittier games (currently, I'm running a high-action, swashbucklery game, so I'm running with hit points plus a bit extra, since that fits the feel, but it's not usually the case,) and more 'realistic' hit...

    [August] What are you playing?

I broke out Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura about a week ago from my pile of old stuff. I'd had problems with it being buggy originally, so I never made it terribly far in. Managing to get past those issues has kept me drooling for more screentime with my computer for the past ten days.

    1st Level HP's = CON..thoughts on the rule

I've been running with Constitution + class hit die at first level for about a year now, and we've all very much enjoyed it. The extra leeway it has given for me to misjudge an encounter or throw some extras at them is appreciated from the DM side of the screen, and the extra ability to take a...

Levelling monsters instead of advancing HD

Like Frank said, rogue is almost certainly an associated class for gargoyles, regarding levels and CR boosts. As far as favoured class is concerned, remember that it's not always chosen based on what makes the best mechanical fit, but instead based on racial propensity. Obviously, the...
