D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Impressions and Surprises from real play Experiences

My understanding is that the Dwarf using Stonecunning's Tremorsense can pinpoint the location of creatures and moving objects within 60 feet that are in contact with the same stone surface.

    D&D 5E (2014) Reducing Power Gaming

Some ways to reduce powergaming could resort to some things like stats roll 3d6, set slow Milestone level progression, ban Multiclassing, Ability Score increase and Feats, limit Magic Items and spell components availability, halve full caster spell slots, remove Hit Dice healing, use Variant...

D&D 5E (2014) How to Run Combats in a Cavernous Dungeon Without Alerting All NPC's?

You can rationalize it by saying that such cavern are very sound proof in general and the stone giants are used to not-so audible loud noise from conflict that occasionally arise between them often leading to yelling or fighting and that the clan adopt a leave-it-alone approach toward, where...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

Even wielding a weapon in a way contrary to its design doesn't count as another classified category but as an improvised weapon instead, not changing wether it's Melee or Ranged weapon in the first palce.

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

Seeing as the rules for Sneak Attack, Weapon classification, Thrown and Range Property hasn't really change between 2014-2024 and that a Sage Advice official ruling melee weapon like dagger not ranged weapon for Archery, this whole debate is the result of wrong hyperlink shortcut that should...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

The weapon is classified and usually doesn't move category based on usage The Hoopak was an exception that specifically did IIRC.

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

It's clear what Sneak Attack says, it says Ranged weapon, not Range weapon.

A spear is never a ranged weapon regardless of how you attack with it.

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

Evidence is in PHB, Sage Advice and Tweets from the Dev. This question has been addressed multiple time since 5E launched.

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

    1. Weapons are never defined for that matter too, just table listings. Melee and Ranged are weapon category classifications that are referenced repeatedly throughout the game. 2. It's a hyperlink shortcut error that should instead refer back to Melee or Ranged in the Weapon details section and...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

I found another coding error on DDB about this very subject. May be it's the same programmer that incorrectly made an hyperlink shortcut in this Sage Advice :) : https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/sac/sage-advice-compendium?msockid=076d6875ed8a697715d17caaecb168d1#SA079

If 5E wanted to have Melee Thrown weapons count as ranged weapon when making ranged attack it would have said so in the Thrown property for example. Not only they never did, but they made an official ruling saying it's not:
