    D&D 5E (2014) Duergar and "nonstandard" races

I pulled out a couple pieces of Warpiglet's post that are crucial for every character concept... As a DM, I really don't like saying "No" to character ideas. So, this is how I've always approached character concepts in the Realms, because simply by looking at the amazing diversity contained...

    D&D 5E (2014) Duergar and "nonstandard" races

Well, my general presumption is that the "evil" of the so-called "evil" races is generally overstated by the so-called "good" races... but, I don't want to derail this so I'll circle back to the OP's question... I think that out of many of the "evil" races, a duergar is probably one of the ones...

D&D 5E (2014) Does Poison Immunity make you immune to the poisoned condition?

Yes, I think so... because that is specifically referencing one without the other... The way I figure it, the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords still lets you get drunk (no immunity to poison condition)... but you don't get a hangover (immunity to poison damage)

D&D 5E (2014) Does Poison Immunity make you immune to the poisoned condition?

I fail to see how one could interpret "Immune to Poison" as applying only to "Poison Damage" and not "Poison Condition"... especially since the phrase "Immune to Poison" does not specify either "Damage" or "Condition"... so, if one is making the presumption that specificity is necessary and must...

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

I think CapnZapp crystallized my sense of both the Tempest Domain, and Clerics as a whole with the above quote snips. A Tempest Cleric that focuses on Melee should make sure they remember their Thrown Weapons... There is obvious synergy between the Wrath of the Storm, Destructive Wrath, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) I played a game of Classic D&D.

Interesting. I haven't encountered this kind of "all sink or swim" circumstance in the 5e games I've been running... Perhaps my table is an exception to the general rule?

    D&D 5E (2014) Why FR Is "Hated"

After reading Yaarel's post, he officially claims the title of Strawman King in my book... my goodness, claiming that 5E is "forcing" monotheistic players to commit idolatry. What a stunningly self-righteous misinterpretation of both D&D and Monotheism... Amazing.:hmm:

    D&D 5E (2014) High Passive Perception

Cap, it feels like you're unnecessarily restricting yourself here... I appreciate your perspective that it would be helpful for WotC to put more stat-blocks of fully-developed NPCs with class levels into their published adventures, but simply because they haven't done so to your satisfaction...

D&D 5E (2014) A question for fellow long time Forgotten Realms fans.

Ummm... It is most definitely a kitchen sink setting, and it is also a well established setting with many many plots from the past and present... and I hope they continue to throw in whatever they want, so that it will continue to be a successful commercial setting. It's true that anything you...

D&D 5E (2014) A question for fellow long time Forgotten Realms fans.

Exactly! Christmas 1989 was the beginning of the Forgotten Realms for me... and Christmas 2016 was the beginning of the Forgotten Realms for the next generation of my family.

D&D 5E (2014) A question for fellow long time Forgotten Realms fans.

I've loved the Forgotten Realms since the 80's... and I love the direction the Realms is going in... Why? It's because it is a resurrection of the old Forgotten Realms (and a resurrection of Greyhawk, and Ravenloft, and hopefully many other settings that life-long Dungeons & Dragons fans like...

D&D 5E (2014) Is my DM being fair?

Wow, thanks for posting this Robus... I really like the "roll initiative last" idea... I'm going to have to update the "house rules" document for my campaign, I think my players will really like this idea too. This is a great example of no matter how many decades you've been DMing, there always...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Fighter Battlemaster Maneuvers

Disarming Strike is situational, but it is very, very good... Because it forces creatures to drop an object (not just a weapon). You get to Interact with an Object as part of movement (and your movement can be used both before & after your action), so you should be able move & attack & loot...

D&D 5E (2014) Hey All, Is This Encounter A Reasonable One?

My players obligate me to "shake things up" in their encounters... They'd be disappointed if everything was run straight out of the Monster Manual. Mixing it up is how you create memorable encounters, and keeps the players from getting bored. It makes the world feel like one where there is...

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock in party with Quasit breaking story

Well, although Flamestrike is conflating the Monstrous Manual info with the Pact of the Chain info... I am less certain that any summoned Familiar doesn't have it's own agenda. Specifically, because it is a summoned Celestial, Fey, or Fiendish spirit, that (as referenced by the Find Familiar...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why FR Is "Hated"

This is exactly the case in every Campaign Setting (FR, Eberron, Golarion, etc.)... If something isn't confirmed by the in-game events at the table, or specifically referenced as part of a character's backstory, it is at best speculation or rumor, not an explicit fact... As the years have gone...

D&D 5E (2014) What homebrew rules are you using for level advancement?

Good to try something new... Consider taking a look at some of the Characer Class associated XP awards in the old AD&D DMG too for other XP award ideas.
