    ECL Races, EVER worth it?

If you want your character to be as powerful as possible, stick with the core races. Possibly with a template; some of the templates can be "worth it" IMHO. Personally, I like playing odd-ball type character once in a while, and enjoy LA characters. I like the challenge of roleplaying a...

    The Expert-A Viable PC Class?

Going into detail would take too long, but it fills several niches, actually. But it is a very generic class, much more so than any of the other new classes in Vikings D20. It should be suitable for any setting, but in a low-magic world like Midgard it really shines.

[d20] What don't you know? (free pdf books)

I wouldn't mind doing a review for you, but I'm just too busy finishing up some other writing. You know... ;)

    The Expert-A Viable PC Class?

Check out the Specialist class in Vikings D20 (coming soon!). It is essentially the expert class with all the extras that people seem to feel the expert lacks to be a viable player class, judging from the replies here. Yeah, I know this is a shameless plug, but the class really does seem to be...

Have you been disillusioned by Eberron?

Too technological for my taste. Don't like the concept of warforged much either. Living constructs are okay as a rare oddity from another plane (there was a race like that in Fiend Folio, IRC), but as standard race it is a bit much. Plus, Eberron doesn't have enough Vikings! :p

    Things other than rulebooks

Any math-geeks want to calculate how many entries such a book would need? I'm guessing it would be an 8 or 9 digit figure. In other words, this wouldn't be just a book, but a series of books of about the same size as the Encyclopedia Britannica...

GMs, why are *you* doing the GMing in your group?

There wouldn't be a game if I didn't DM. On the other hand, I wouldn't DM if I didn't like it so much! :D

Everyone, Tell us about your games, please!

5 players, plus DM (me). Only one female (my fiancee). The only gaming store in town has the PHB, DMG and MM, plus dice, - and that's it. I'm 37 and have been gaming for 8 years. I never use modules or setting books, it's always been all homebrew for me. No on-going campaign at the moment...

    Wierdest place you've ever gamed

The only time I've gamed in a slightly odd place was a D&D session on a beach. Evil, epic level characters - we got some odd looks!

More examples from Weapons of Legacy

My guess is those feats you get from performing the rituals removes -or at least lessens- the penalties.

Have you ever killed a familiar?

Consider the idea snatched! I have a player in my group who always plays a wizard, and I can just see the look on his face as I describe the empathic link- sensory input he's getting! :p :p :p

Have you ever killed a familiar?

Normally my players are very careful to protect their pets, so there havn't been many familiar deaths in my campaigns. There was that one glorious moment though, when I killed off two familiars and a ranger's dog companion with one Cone of Cold from an ogre mage. The group was in shock! :p

Looking to make epic level dragon PC's...

IIRC (and I think I do), there were guidelines for how much you should up the LA as the dragon gains a new age category, size, special power etc. Not an actual table that went beyond LA +20 for each kind of dragon, though.

RPG Authors: How Do You Do It?

I found I had to end my campaign (after 4 years of DMing it) to really get going on my first book. I've also cut back on posting on these borads, stopped reading story hours etc. Even so, I work long hours and have two kids still in diapers, so I still don't have nearly enough time to write.

Looking to make epic level dragon PC's...

Draconomicon is an absolute must for an all-dragon campaign!!! Or for any campaign that contains dragons at all. It's the coolest D&D book on the market, IMO. Loads of great dragon PrC's, feats, spells and magic items. Think long and hard before allowing the Dragon Descendant PrC, though. It...

    Bonus for blind character

Climbing would also be more difficult for a blind person. Even swimming is a lot harder when you can't see the waves coming. Hmm... are there any other Str-based skills? :o

    Bonus for blind character

IIRC, the Blind-sight feat is from Sword & Fist. The PC probably meets the pre-reqs already. One was Blind-fight (which he has). Another was WIS (something...), but being a shaman he probably meets that pre-peq too (although S&F had a few feats intended for higher level monks with a WIS 19...

[Monday] Request for real world magic traditions.

Seith This is the Viking version of witchcraft. Seith focused largely on healing and nature magic. Freya - the goddess of love and fertility - was the one who brought the knowledge of seith out to the world, and was naturally considered the patron of all seithmen/women.

Things to do in the sewers....?

You know, the number of locales you can realistically expect to find in a sewer is rather limited... ;) If there are things living down there; dire rats, moon rats, othyugs (sp?), goblins, kobolds or maybe a band of lizardfolk, then they might have had to make their own locales. There are...
