    What is this creature?

Whatever it is, those big eyes and ears gives it a racial bonus to Listen and Intimidate! :p

Would your group stop a woman from joining?

I wanted to ban girls from our group, but my girlfriend refused to leave! :p

    I m a girl get over it

Welcome to ENWorld, Solar! :) Terribly sorry to hear about your problems, though. It sounds like you are really into the game, and you havn't even got a chance to try it... :\ Forgive me for saying so, but yor boyfriend and his friends sound real immature! How old are they anyway??? I'm...

    Vikings D20

My earlier hope of an April release is shattered, but I have not quite given up on May yet. The reason for the delay is that the book is going to be quite a bit longer than I had thought, maybe closer to 200 pages. As I look things up to make sure I have my facts right, I keep finding all this...

    Aberrations in Medieval Europe

I can't think of any mythological prescedence for it, but that doesn't mean anything. If you want the Lovecraft feel to your game, aberrations is definitely the way to go. There are PLENTY of mythological beasts to choose from though, if you want to enhance the historical feel of your campaign...

Song Dragons: What supplement are they in?

Ah, yes! The sword spiders; I forgot about those. Used them once, as mounts for a squad of drow blackguards...

Song Dragons: What supplement are they in?

I have it; got it when it first came out. And the only monster from it I've ever used is the song dragon! Well, I've used fang dragons, but that was in a 3.5 game, so I used the Draconomicon version.

    Next Monster centered book?

While a Draconomicon-style book on fiends would be extremely cool, I don't think it's very likely they'll make one. BoVd covers a lot of this ground already, and Fiend Folio has some nice fiend material too. So I'm guessing it will be giants or fey next. Which is fine by me! I'd definitely buy...

    Changing generation.

If the fabled 4th ed. is released in the next couple of years, I won't be buying it. I've got way too many good 3.5 books! 3.5 is an excellent game, and I'll be happy to play it for many years to come.

"But I'm THIS close to a new level..."

There have been a few times when players have been really close to a new level; say within 100 XP, that I've simply allowed them to do the level up without actually giving them any extra xp. It's better that they level between sessions than during sessions; leveling up during a session is just a...

    Vikings D20

Vikings D20 is no more! :( Relax, it's not as bad as it sounds. Apparently WotC does not allow 3rd party publishers to use the D20 trademark in the way I had in mind. My Viking game will still be a d20 product, it's just not legal for me to name it Vikings D20. All it means is I've got yet...

Clueless new author looking for advice

I see. Thanks for clearing that up; I certainly don't feel like starting a legal quarrel with WotC! :uhoh:

Clueless new author looking for advice

Thanks for all your advice, everyone; you've been very helpful! :) But Joe Mucchiello; are you saying I can't name my product Vikings D20? I can use the d20 system, but not have d20 in the product title? Or did I misunderstand you? Sounds a bit strange to me... Can anybody confirm this?

    Mongoose Publishing's Rep...?

My mongoose experiences has been limited to the Slayer's Guide to..., Encyclopedia Arcane and Quintessential series. IMHO, they can all be summed up in the same way: Good fluff; but the crunch is of so poor quality as to be completely useless.

DM, How much time do you prepare before a session

For my last campaign: Minimum 10 hours of prep for one hour of gaming, not counting all the time spent mulling things over and thinking about what to do. That was towards the end of a four year campaign, with one 6 hour session per week, though! For the last six months of it, the PCs were...

    Monster Stats

My players sometimes ask questions like "how does he/she/it look by know?", hoping I'll give them a clue to how many HP their enemy has left. I generally just smile and tell them what they've just done: "He/she/it has X cuts from your swords and Y arrows sticking out of his/her/its body". Then...

    Who do you game with?

Mostly strangers who have become close friends through years of gaming together. The one exception is my girlfriend; who's experience with the fantasy genre was limited to watching a TV adaption of a Narnia book, until I introduced her to the magical world of Magic the Gathering, D&D, Tolkien etc.

(History) One SERIOUS chunk of steel!!

I think maybe you got the two mixed up. Vikings stuck to the shield + broadsword/waraxe combo, while the scotsmen often used greatswords.
