Another nice one, PJR! :D Too bad my pirate campaign ended last week... :\

Prestige Classes: Too much of a good thing?

Just last week I finally got my hands on Comp Arc and Comp Adv, and something about the PrC's struck me: Practically all the ones I liked were reprints from the 3.0 splat books. Most of the new PrC's just seemed silly to me, somehow. Sure, they sometimes had cool and useful mechanics and...

    101 Taverns

The Crystal Chandeleer Tea Salon The Crystal Chandeleer was once located in a very respectable part of a respectable town, and was owned and run by a very respectable young woman. Unfortunately for her, she married a man with a bit of a gambling problem. They got children and the husband took...

I don't want to poison anybody, but...

Thanks for your replies, everyone, and a special thank you to Eric Price; for his detailed description of how the toxin works. Just what I needed! :D Sorry I was so slow to respond myself, but I've been away for a couple of days.

Anyone have any ECL +0 Planetouched races?

Doesn't +0 LA kinda take away from the whole idea behind a planetouched character..? IMHO, their ancestry is supposed to make them special; more powerful than say a human or elf, and "more powerful" equals "+X LA". Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing some LA +2 planetouched.

I don't want to poison anybody, but...

...does anyone have any suggestion for how digitalis (real world poison made from the fox glove flower) could work in a D&D/D20 game? Maybe even a DC for making the stuff?

    Define "low-magic"

Wow, loads of replies in just one night! Thanks for posting, everyone! :D I'm getting a much clearer picture of what is generally meant by low-magic now. Inever really saw what was so great about it before this thread. I kinda had the feeling a low-magic campaign was more or less the same as...

    Define "low-magic"

Every campaign I've ever run has been set in the same homebrew campaign world, which is definitely high-magic. However, my current campaign is nearing its end and I'm thinking it might be refreshing to try something different for my next campaign. I know there is a lot of love for low-magic...

    Fiction Teaser - Cliché

Lot's of adventurers don't have families because the players can't be bothered with coming up with an interesting story. Sad but true. :(

3, 5 or 10 Level - What are your favourite Prestige Classes?

As long as a PrC is cool and it's balanced Ok, I don't care how many levels it has. I liked how the dragon PrC's in Draconomicon all had 12 levels, though!

Clueless new author looking for advice

Thanks for your replies, everyone. :) I've browsed around the SRD/OGL/legal pages over at WotC, and though I can't say I've had time to study it all closely, my book seems to be a d20 product. I'm still undecided about wether to publish it myself or look around for a publisher. When the...

Clueless new author looking for advice

Thanks for the swift reply, Arwink! :) "Character generation rules"... New classes are ok, right? What if those classes cast spells in a different way than the "normal" spellcasting classes? I'm working on mana-type system for a few of my new classes, where spells of different levels have...

Clueless new author looking for advice

First of all; a big hello to everybody! :) This is my first post on the publishers' boards, since I've never really had any reason to go lurking here before, but I'm guessing I'm about become a regular. I'm currently working on a project I hope to see published in the near future, something...

    Row, row, row your boat...

Ship speeds... That's a big one. The speeds listed are about right for ships fully loaded with heavy cargo, on a day with moderate wind. ;) Depending on weather and cargo, a ship's speed could be anything from zero mph to three (or even four) times the speeds listed in the DMG. For most large...

Evil clerics sacrificing and getting killer bonuses

He got that from a Limited Wish??? So what can you get with a real Wish??? The problem here isn't the sacrifice rules; the problem is that your DM is appearantly throwing magic items around him! Or maybe the problem is that you don't have all the facts? You mentioned in...

Evil clerics sacrificing and getting killer bonuses

Unless your campaign is far into epic levels, your cleric and your DM need to study the sacrifice rules more closely. He can't possibly get himself a free weapon like the one you described unless he's gone way past level 20. I've been DMing an evil campaign for several years now and the PCs...

Is Wisdom the real dump stat?

It's also good for paladins and blackguards, I believe. ;) For ftr/brb tank characters, though, the math is really pretty simple: CHA grants bonus to certain skills. WIS grants bonus to certain skills AND improves Will saves. That's purely math, of course. Then there's the player's...

Complete? ... The basic classes are still best.

When 3.0 came out (long before the LotR movies, in other words), my first impression of the ranger class was that it's only purpose was catering to Aragorn wanna-be's... :\
