Complete? ... The basic classes are still best.

And he has some minor spell casting abilities! Remember when he tries to heal Frodo after Weathertop, but discovered that his healing was insufficient? Well, of course it was; Frodo had been wounded by an undead and so of course he needed a Restoration spell, and rangers can't cast that! Elrond...

D&D 4E 4e - Forseeing the shape of thing to come?

Hmm... I believe I've read that before somewhere... :p I still like my 3.5, though!

Complete? ... The basic classes are still best.

Here's how I see it: Core is core. It's the basics. It's the essentials. It's the must-have's. Everything else is spice. In other words you can get along fine with just core, but it get's even better when you spice it up a bit! ;) My group consist of 6 uncureable bookaholics; we generally...

Is this an exceptable "variant" magical to introduce to a campaign

Just let me nit-pick a bit first of all: If I interpret you correctly I wouldn't call it a wand, but a rod. Still assuming I'm getting you correctly, this item essentially functions like a meta-magic rod but with 3 major differences: 1) It let's you choose between 2 feats 2) There's no cap on...

    Ghoul Stones

Make a touch attack with a ghoul stone and the target must make a save to avoid paralyzis. The Ghoul Stone is a minor artifact; it's bearer gains immunities as if he was an undead and can make paralyzing slam/claw attacks. Turns you evil over time, though. A ghoul stone is a +1 returning...

the bad guys you fight are often organized, so why not evil pc's

I've been DMing an evil campaign for almost 5 years now, and it's been the most fun I've ever had gaming! It's been a very refreshing change from always playing heroic good guys. I recommend it! Though the PCs have alignments ranging from LE, via NE (leaning towards N), to CE, and they all...

    Which is your favorite Hell?

I'm quite partial to Dante's classic nine-level version. The more terrible sins you've comitted, the further down you end up. According to him, the 9th level holds only one damned soul; that of Judas Iskariot. Encased in ice; frozen but awake for all eternity, and utterly aware of the enormity...

D&D 4E 4e - Forseeing the shape of thing to come?

    I certainly hope that's true! I like 3.5 a lot, and I don't WANT a new edition. Sure, 3.x isn't perfect, but what is?

Who Uses Music in their Game?

No music for our group. We get distracted too easily!

What two domains would your cleric pick?

Heh. My girlfriend's playing a deity with just those 2 domains! ;) Seriously, she is. The campaign is about to end and the PCs have ascended to deities; I'll just run them through a couple more sessions to let them enjoy their new powers and tie up all loose ends. She started out as a...

    Your favorite templates

I just loved the Living Spell template in MM3! And the Evloved Undead from LM is great for giving undeads just that little extra something. But the most allround useful ones are the ones from MM, IMHO. They are the "classics"; staples of the fantasy gnre. Some are actually classic...

    Encounter: A Fiendish Infestation

I agree on both accounts. Maybe you should save this encounter for when the PCs gone up a level? The only thing I have a problem with here, is the half-fiend centipede sneaking around, just seconds before giving birth. I'd change that a bit; maybe have the "babies" come out if the mamapede...

    Name that Pirate Ship!

My soon-to-end current campaign originally revolved around pirates. Here's what few names I remember: Deathwind (and later Deathwind II) The Shark (the captain was a seahag (from Creature catalogue)) The Ravage (viking-style longship, with a crew of orc Ravagers) Anna IV (The captian here...

    Am I a "Needy" DM? ;)

Fortunately, I've not yet been in the situation you describe here, but this sounds like good advice to me!

Do you make your own adventures?

Seems I'm pretty much on the same page as the majority of ENWorld DMs in prefering to write my own stuff. The reasons for this vary a bit, but one thing seem to be recurring: If you write your own material, you are intimately familiar with it. This makes it easier to do stuff on the fly when...

    Wizard's Items of Power

Seems to me you've already got all the essential bits together. I'd stick to what you've already come up with, if I were you. If you have too many items for the PCs to collect, there's always a danger of the campaign feeling repetitive. If you feel you need/want more items, you could always add...

Do you make your own adventures?

For my own part, I write the adventures I run myself. To me, the creative prosess of making them is almost as much fun as playing. I've tried running published modules a couple of times, but I found it took away alot of the fun for me. I also use my own homebrew campaign world.

Do you make your own adventures?

I'm curious about what the habits of the many DMs of ENWorld are when it comes to adventures. Do you prefer to make your own or use published material? Either way, I'd also like to hear why you do whatever it is you do.

    DMG II Announced

It makes sense that DMGII is more expensive, I think. It's a question of volume. WotC is VERY lucky if this gets 10% of the sales the ordinary DMG has! Every DM (well, almost...) will want to have the DMG, but how many of them will buy the DMGII?
