Is your game/group a "good" example for D&D?

We have a lot of fun, and I don't believe there's any geeks or nerds in our group. Are there..? :uhoh: Anybody who's worried that D&D is evil might easily get the wrong idea, though. Everyone in the group enjoy playing bad guys as much as they enjoy playing good guys. Current PC's are: 1)...

I need your help DM's with an aquatic campaign

With regards to the spells you mention, I'd disallow them as they are for an underwater campaign. Most energy-based spells would be tricky underwater: Melf's AA: Definitely out. The acid would be dilluted into uselessness the instant it is conjured. Fireball (and any other firespell): Out...

if you could run or play in ANY campaign RIGHT now...

This is exactly what I'm running right now! The PCs are central pieces in a war involving just about every outsider lord and deity. On the material plane a frostgiant sorcerer has developed an epic spell that has shrunk the sun to half its size, so the world is steeped in darkness and eternal...

if you could run or play in ANY campaign RIGHT now...

I've almost reached the climax of looong high-magic D&D campaign now; the PCs are well into epic levels and have ascended into demigodhood. Once this is rapped up, I'm gonna want a break from DMing! (Making CR 40-70 monsters, NPCs, outsider lords and deities is an enormous amount of work!) So...

Looking for a spell and magic item

A PC in my campaign recently got a pair of gloves like that made; though highly specialized ones. Their only function was to allow the wearer to switch between magic rings as a free action. Each glove can hold any number of magic rings, but nothing else. The wearer still gets the benefit of only...

    Dwarf Canals!

Terry Pratchett's fantasy books are actually excellent sources for DM inspiration, IMHO. They're not all wackyness! It's been said that his Diskworld is what you get when you put all the fantasy clichès together and add a healthy dose of logic and common sense. ;)

Another "real-world" choice: Pick one feat...

Great Fortitude or Iron Will would both be good; one protects my health, the other helps me resist temptations! ;) Or maybe I should go for Extra Turning? I could do with a few extra uses per day... Maybe then I could finally get rid of all those skeletons in my closet! :p

What I love about this game

The only gaming material I've ever gotten as a present was the Stronghold Builder's Guide, 3 years ago. I havn't exactly worn it out... :\ No complaints this year though, every present was both needed and welcome!

Metamorphosis: From Dretch to Demon Lord - Ascension Released!

Brilliant as always, Blackdirge! :D I was particularly thrilled to see Yaghur Hod's name appear, of course, since I'm the one who requested stats for the prisoner of Elysium. IMC, Yaghur Hod was recently released from his captivity by the PCs and they've formed an alliance with him. In a...

A poor death for a warrior

My most pathetic PC death was with an Order of the Bow initiate: Turned to stone by a basilisk's gaze (rolled a 1 on my save), waited 3 nights of gaming for the others to find someone who could cast Stone to Flesh, then rolled another 1 on that save and was transformed into a pile of fleshy goo.

    Races of Destiny: First Look

It's a pity we can never have a good debate about a new book without it being turned into yet another crunch vs fluff debate 1/4 down the first page... :\ Personally, I'd like to hear how people feel about the Able Learner feat? IMHO, it's bordering on overpowered; and I'm still undecided...

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

He probably wan't have THAT much hp, no... But he'll have a very decent AC and attack bonus.

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

Another factor worth keeping in mind when dealing with kobolds is that they have speed 30; not many small humanoids have more than 20. Dodge and Mobility are feats to consider; and a kobold archer with the Run feat can give your PCs a nasty shock... ;)

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

Absolutely. I just feel shortswords suit them better. My own little flavor-thing... Agreed. Never underestimate the little barking lizardfolk! :p

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

Don't forget the +1 natural armor! ;) That adept could also afford a +1 buckler for another +2 AC (still no AP), bringing his AC up to 19. Or he could drop the armor and cast Mage Armor instead, for yet another +1 AC...

    Monstrous Druid AC...

The ring will meld into his new form and thus not grant its benefit, yes. He could, however, take the ring off before wild shaping and then put it back on once he's in bear shape (or rather get another partymember with decent fingers to put it on for him). Bears do have digits of a sort, but...

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

Good comparisons, Darkness! As you said, the CR2 critters have twice the hp and deal more damage than the kobold; but they can't match his attack modifier and they're nowhere near his AC! Having once DMed a kobold rogue PC, I've learned not to underestimate the little blighters! ;) Factoring...

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

Kobold warrior 4: STR 8, DEX 16 (including lvl 4 stat-increase), CON 9, INT 9, WIS 10, CHA 8 Feats: Improved Initiative, Weapon Finesse Possessions: MW Shortsword, MW Heavy Shield, MW Breastplate, MW Light Crossbow, Vest of Resistance +1 (2000gp, for a CR2 NPC) With this build, the kobold...

    Kobold Adept4 - Balanced CR1?

I can only agree with you on this one. While a kobold warrior 4 is ok as CR1 encounter, an adept 4 should be at least CR2; possibly even CR3. Edit: Thinking about it, I'm starting to feel more and more that the warrior should be CR2 and the adept CR3.

Morality in your D&D - b&w or gray?

Mostly grey in my setting; which makes playing a paladin rather difficult sometimes, but our group enjoys that! In my homebrew, paladins are ridiculed as often as they are admired for their extremist views. :p On the outer planes things are mostly B&W, but definitely not among the mortals. (I...
