What does the future hold for your campaign?

My campaign's also nearing the end. Right now there's a major war raging all across the outer planes; blackguards against paladins, fiends against celestials and deities against deities. All major forces of evil have united against the forces of good, even the bloodwar has been put on hold. The...

Metamorphosis: From Dretch to Demon Lord - Ascension Released!

Looks like it's time for another BUMP :uhoh:

Quality of WotC and 3rd party D&D books

I apologize, that obviously came out wrong. It wasn't meant as an admission; grudging or otherwise, it was intended to be more of a supposition. As I said, I havn't bought 3rd party books lately and therefore I don't know if/how much they've improved. Which is why I started this thread...

Quality of WotC and 3rd party D&D books

Sure, I too have higher expectations of WotC than of other companies. It's "their game" so to speak, and they have more to win and more to loose than any other company. Ergo, they should have higher standards for their books than any other publisher. Which makes it all the more frustrating and...

races of destiny --has D&D 3.5 jumped the shark?

It's at least a very close thing, IMHO! Neither the Complete... or Races of... series has impressed me very much! The Chameleon PrC was an exception, both fun and original, but I'm not sure if I'd allow it in a campaign. Just a little weird, maybe too weird for my taste. The jury is still out on...

Quality of WotC and 3rd party D&D books

Well, I guess there has to have been some improvement. And I feel WotC's standards have fallen the last year or two... IMHO, the complete series are no better than the old splats, which they are mostly reprints of anyway. The Races of... series has not impressed me the least. Planar Handbook was...

Quality of WotC and 3rd party D&D books

(Inspired by the "Favorite Hardbacks" thread) I noticed a lot of non-WotC books got mentioned in that thread, and frankly I was a bit surprised. I bought a few 3rd party books in the early days of 3.0 and was so thoroughly discusted by the amount of hopeless errors I soon dubbed every one of...

    [D&D] Your favorite hardbacks

1: Draconomicon 2: Manual of the Planes 3: Epic Level Handbook 3: Book of Vile Darkness 3: Libris Mortis The two first are definite, but as you see there's a tie for third place. Edit: Never mind. Rather than hi-jacking this, I started my own thread here.

    Summon Monster

I've yet to see a Summon Monster spell used in 3.x play. The full-round casting time, short duration and low CR monsters (compared to the casters level) available; all these factors help make Summon Monster a waste of spell slots... :\

    The DM's Percentage

The creative process is what I love about DMing, so I definitely write everything myself. NPCs, stories, the campaign setting... I even make my own monsters, templates, PrCs, feats and spells if I can't find what I want in a book. It takes some time, but I have a job where there's a lot of...

Anyone have Races of Destiny? Is it worth it?

The preview over at WotC certainly didn't impress me! Looks like the least interesting book since Enemies & Allies to me... I very much doubt I'll be getting this one.

    Combat RP'ing

The players I DM are good in that they always strive to stay in character, even during combat. :) That doesn't mean there's a lot of RPing going on during fights, nor do we feel a need for any more. Sounds like I'm contradicting myself, but I'll try to explain: I think we all feel combat...

why play a evoker since complete arcane?

Why play a specialist at all? Why not go for sorcerer? Ok, you don't get the selection of spells a wizard can have, but you can pick your favorites; the one's you use most. You select your favorites from one school, get to cast them loads of times per day, and you can fill out your spell-list...

The (prestige) class that HASN'T been crafted yet ...

I've made a couple of PrCs for my homebrew; maybe not quite arch-typical, but themes I couldn't find in any other PrC: Sumo-wrestler mage/druid combo, that specializes on animals; combines animal companions and familiar into multiple familiars Blackguard-esque archer PrC

    Is this you(r GM)?

There was a lot of dragons in my campaign just after I got the Draconomicon... Loved that book! ;) The campaign were headed towards dragons anyway: A dragon disciple PC was expecting eggs with a great wyrm and planning a quest of atonement after angering Tiamat, just before the book came out...

    Planescape Setting

This would be the perfect solution, but unfortunately not very likely to happen... :( If either WotC or Monte would do it, I'll be very happy.

    Your first character

Can't recall his name, but it was a halfelf cleric/sorcerer, training to be a fighter! Most of his skillpoints went into, Bluff, Diplomacy, Sense Motive and Perform (Flute) for some absurd reason. Probably to take advantage of his charisma (18). I guess I wanted to try everything the game could...

    Stupid Dungeon Master Syndrome

The following story is not my own, it happened to a friend of mine, back in the days of AD&D: A group of 5 friends runs one campaign each. They play 2-3 nights a week, DMing on a rotation. A 6th guy, new in town, joins the group. On his first night as DM he gives a short introductionary speech...
