    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Angel Summoner. Now all that we need is a BMX Bandit. :) I really like the class and look forward to actually trying one.

A Different Take on an Evil Darklord.

Have you looked at Eberron? One of the major nations is run by a vampire who replaced his great grandson. He gained his power from an evil cult, and gradually decided that he didn't want to be their pawn anymore. The nation uses undead for troops, and it's definitely a repressed dictatorship...

    Playtest: Adventurer's Vault 2

Read the last sentence of the first paragraph about the orbs. It clarifies what happens. You don't literally enter the orb. The Wizard and the orb "enter" the special plane that is represented within the orb.

experience earned for defeating a PC?

An NPC statted like a PC is not a normal monster. It is at least as powerful as an elite. Why would you need to give an NPC recurring villain XP? Actually, why give anyone XP in 4th edition? I just periodically tell them to level.

    Adventurer's Vault 2 Playtest

When you're in the orb, it says that there's a void beyond the walls. Basically, it seems more like the actual orb is just a window to a mini-plane. When you tap it, everyone is teleported to that miniplane. If you were then to look inside the orb while "in" the orb, you may or may not see...

    Playtest: Adventurer's Vault 2

I love the tattoos. I'll hopefully be in a Wraith Recon game in the near future. I think that those tattoos are perfect for something like that.

experience earned for defeating a PC?

I occasionally stat up an enemy like a PC. I do that for a fight to the death so that he has enough interesting abilities to make the fight cool. I also don't use XP. The reality is that it's a little harder than an elite. I've had a statted enemy last quite a while against 2 PCs.

    D&D III movie trailer

Scott Rouse is a bad man. I NEED AN ADULT!! That's just wrong. Both D&D movies were... bad. But I can't be the only one who thought that the second one was better than the first.

    Swiftblade Paragon Path

I like it. The Swiftblade was the last thing that I wanted to play in 3.5. I've been hoping that it would find a way to 4th. This is definitely on the way. There may be a few parts that are a little too powerful, though. I don't know.

Wizards, Armour and the Collective Consciousness

You're basically saying that it's up to the DM to make sure that you have a character that's fun. It also sounds like a character that's fun can only be a Wizard in full plate with no negative. Get over yourself. What if my only way to have fun is to be an immortal demigod traveling with normal...

Wizards, Armour and the Collective Consciousness

Wow. This went in a different direction. While I agree in principal with NerfedWizard, he seems to have left some things out. Does it make sense that Wizards CAN'T use armor? No. It's silly. In 4e, they aren't trained in its use, but they can get the training. That makes perfect sense to me...

Wizards, Armour and the Collective Consciousness

Richard Rahl- Sword of Truth Rand al'Thor- Wheel of Time I'm pretty sure. If he's a DM and you want to play a Wizard in armor, just tell him to stop being a douche because that's now how the rules of 4th edition work. Or, follow his lead and demand a case of Druids changing in to animals.

    German language help.

Actually, the best online dictionary to trust is LEO Deutsch-Englisches Wörterbuch I'm a German teacher in America. It's the dictionary that I go to when I need something accurate immediately. I would recommend keeping the name short so that it's easily done in a couple of letters or a syllable...

What do people think of campaign twists?

I came into my last 3.5 game after they had played a session or two. They were told that they would start off in Waterdeep, but that the game would turn to some wilderness. They had a Wizard, a Druid with spells most useful in a city, and a Dwarf in heavy armor and a tower shield. By the end of...

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

Most classes have secondary roles. The Barbarian Playtest first mentioned it, but the other classes since then have made mention, too. Fighter- Defender/Striker Paladin- Defender/Leader Rogue- Striker/Controller Ranger- Striker/Controller Cleric- Leader/Defender? Warlock- Striker/Controller...

    How should I pronounce Tiefling?

The crazy thing about that is that the rule in English is the exact opposite. Usually. The fun thing about English is that we have a lot of instances that break the rules. In German, an "ie" is an "ee" sound in English. Words are broken up in a certain way. It's more Teef-ling than Tee-fling...

    Which is D&D? 4e or 2e?

Damn. Maybe I should have just let the Windows comparison be the end of it. I was just talking about D&D. My argument comes down to the following: IT'S ALL D&D!!!

    Which is D&D? 4e or 2e?

People like ice cream. There are a lot of different companies that make ice cream. There are a lot of flavors. There are a lot of mix-ins. But all of those people still like ice cream. What about custard and gelato? Those are very similar to ice cream. I don't always know the difference. This is...

Forked Thread: Can Illusionary Pit be used on a flying creature?

Flavor text helps out people who: 1. Don't want to make something up to describe what's happening. 2. Are new to the game and need to ease into describing what happens. Personally, I think that it would be cool to reflavor a number of Wizard spells to make it seem like there are extra...
