    Minions, figuratively speaking

I'm going with the idea that minions are just nobodies. They don't matter. Even at higher levels, I'll use minions to represent the fact that some of them just aren't right to take on the heroes. After all, the heroes tap into something greater. So do their major enemies. The minions? Not so...

    D&D 4E Level 1 4e campaign idea -- help me vet it

How many levels should they be able to advance through? They should be able to hit level 2 pretty easily in what you have there anyway. Different races and walks of life inherit a keep. 2 ideas: 1. They each had aunts or uncles who were adventurers. They adventured together and left it to their...

Meek to mighty... in a month

A lot of people seem to think that 1st level means "weak and inexperienced". That may have been the case in other editions, but not in this one. Normal people can basically just be treated like minions. They're the ones who are weak and inexperienced. The 1st level characters have had their...

    Ultimate self-sufficiant char.

The Factotum from Dungeonscape. It can literally do ANYTHING. There's a feat that is on the Wizards site to give it more Inspiration points, too, so it rocks even harder.

    D&D 4E D&D4E = Totally Anime

I thought that Exalted was the anime game. For the record, though, I've been working on a 4E campaign with Exalted being the inspiration. Surprisingly, it's not nearly as difficult as one would think. It only took about 2 pages of Exalted-specific rules that will need to be cleaned up. Is that...

    more DDM stats available

Why are they automatically Defenders? They seem to make more sense as Strikers. Even if they have a lot of hit points, that just means that they're meant to do the close stuff. They can't shrug off damage or hinder attackers. All that they can do is beat the hell out of them. Hard.

D&D 4E 4E and Exalted: Use the setting

If we get too out there, we might as well just play Exalted. I'll attempt to mold the Exalted setting to the new ideas of D&D. For whatever reason, the other Exalts are gone. Maybe they never existed. Servants of the Elemental Chaos decided that they wanted control of the Material plane, but...

D&D 4E 4E and Exalted: Use the setting

This is rather freeform because I went back and added things as I thought of them. I hope the ideas make sense. I think that things will become a little easier with certain castes when the books are released and we can actually see more maneuvers. I hope that they have some in the main books...

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

A quote on the first page got me thinking about 4E and Exalted. I started a thread in the 4E forum about trying to use the Exalted setting to play 4E if anyone is interested.

D&D 4E 4E and Exalted: Use the setting

This is not a comparison between Exalted and 4E. I like what I'm seeing about 4E. I like Exalted. I was reading a thread talking about White Wolf's "Graduate your game" promotion. Someone said, "I like the setting, but I don't like the mechanics." It got me thinking. How would you use the...

What the *scratches head* Tiefling, Eladrin...

I say Teef-ling and El-uh-drin. Part of it is because I learned the game in college and just picked up what my friends called them. Part of it is that it's just easier. I could see E-lad-rin being correct if you assume that the E at the beginning is like in the word "meh". I also agree with the...

Skamos Redmoon, the Pathetic Tiefling Wizard

Did they pigeon-hole the Fighter into just beating things? Is the Cleric pigeon-holed into healing? In this edition, these are what each of the classes are. It's not pigeon-holed. It's what it's made for. The Wizard is, for the most part, a blaster. He has the same name as a 3.5 class, but he's...

Pitch me your ulitmate D&D movie

I will definitely agree with a Drizzt movie. The books have consistently been bestsellers for a long time. Homeland, Exile and Sojourn would definitely be the best places to start. Mark Dascascos is a great martial artist and a good actor. The problem? He's too old. Drizzt is around 50 last I...

How many spells each day and each encounter do we truly get?

Don't some of the encounter powers have a little part that says "Recharge 5,6" and stuff like that? Does that mean that they can actually be used multiple times in an encounter?

    What is DnD ?

I'm currently playing an Underdark campaign that includes a 7' Human "Spartan", my Svirfneblin with a horned riding lizard, and a Drow Ranger (archer, don't worry) who is our guide. We use the New World of Darkness system. In my book, we're still playing D&D. Why do I call that D&D? Because...

    Tactical Boardgame?

While it doesn't NEED to be, a lot of the fights are set up as a board game. I'll agree with that idea. The problem that the OP is stating is that people are moving outside of that and saying that the ENTIRE GAME is a board game, which is not true. This is the same flawed idea as has been stated...

    Possible Scoop...Tiefling Page

I think that the bonus ability screams for a Tiefling Paladin. It's like a special form of smite. Honestly, though, these previews are making me salivate. There's even a puddle forming.

Wizard Spells 10-16 Two Page Spread

I don't really remember seeing this mentioned. Did they say that these couple of pages were literally directly from the book? Or were these just parts of pages. Maybe they just took a few spells from the book and made them look impressive. They do that sort of thing all of the time with...

Camping: It does a body good!

Abstract HPs make perfect sense. When you move over to falling damage, that's a real injury. When you get into a fight, you're not as able to avoid all of the blows as well, so it doesn't take as long as it normally would for you to get knocked unconscious or killed. Boom. Done.

[Exploits] Ranger Daily: Split the Tree

This is not our reality. This is a different reality. In the D&D reality, Heroes heal much faster than people do in our reality. The rules of physics are not the same as they are for us. In D&D, I find it perfectly plausible that someone could get slapped by a dragon's tail, stand up, take a...
