Who is the quintessential D&D artist?

But when you look at the HD of such a dragon, if you were not a high level party defeating such a foe was a big deal. :)

Who is the quintessential D&D artist?

My formative years of roleplaying harken back to the late 80's and early 90's. So artists such as Elmore and Parkinson are most familiar to me. Planescape also was a big release at the time (along with the card game Blood Wars) so Tony DiTerlizzi also features foremost in my "artists that make...

Domains of Shadow: Requesting Criticism for an Original System

I do find all three easier to read.

Domains of Shadow: Requesting Criticism for an Original System

No worries. I'm thinking the reason I'm seeing it as a wall of text even with indentation is possibly because the traditional size of an rpg book is 8.5 x 11.5 inches and the impression I had was that is the size. Novels on the other hand are smaller and I don't have the same problem. And...

Domains of Shadow: Requesting Criticism for an Original System

Benefit? It breaks up the text and makes it easier to read. The page I showed is an entire page of text with no breaks. Looking through various games I own, most do not have entire page of text running down it. Some do have paragraph indentation like yours, but also two column layout and most...

Domains of Shadow: Requesting Criticism for an Original System

Its got indentation. But no line spacing after the paragraphs. So I feel that its a wall of text making it harder to read. A lot of rpgs I have, rather than indent the paragraphs, have a space between.

Domains of Shadow: Requesting Criticism for an Original System

Just a quick look, I'd add line spacing between paragraphs. I saw what amounts to a wall of text which discouraged me from reading.

    The Origins of ‘Rule Zero’

I think what was meant is that if a Game Master were to Rule Zero a game (perhaps with a lot of rule changes), then perhaps there is another game that addresses the problem the GM is trying to solve. I took @pemerton to mean that the rules, as contained in a rule book that both players and GM...

Warhammer Fantasy RPG: Middenheim – City of the White Wolf

I don't have the original, so think its great that C7 are releasing old material updated to the new edition.

On the second day of Christmas, I got 2d6.

Suggestions? Some sort of Powered by the Apocalypse game. A lot use 2D6.

How much did you spend on Gaming this year. OUCH

More than I should have. I purchased most of the WFRP 4E physical products this year that aren't the core rule book, and pre-ordered 2 more, plus Age of Sigmar Soulbound. Then there are 6 kickstarters plus the additional costs from other kickstarters that delivered this year. Plus POD orders...

GM Authority (Edited For Clarity, Post #148)

It's not really. Its an exercise in convincing the person who has volunteered to run the game. The final decision is made by that person. If you can sweet talk the GM, or bribe them with food, then you're in luck. If not, then either the Players accept the game on offer, or the GM asks which of...

So it's also OK for the GM to have buy-in on what characters the Players have? "You want to play an elf ranger? How about a human thief? No? What a jerk."

I can. Being asked to run a game for strangers at a local game store. You have no opportunity to contact the Players ahead of the first session but must be prepared to have the Players generating characters and even start the first time you meet. You could assume they'll all like D&D... but you...

GM Authority (Edited For Clarity, Post #148)

Except, in the end, this is what will happen. A GM does not have to run a game they don't want to run. A Player does not have to play a game they don't want to play. If after everyone has had their say and the GM still doesn't want to allow non-human characters, either the Player leaves or the...

Take A Look At The DUNE Character Sheet!

... and it's stuff like the high postage makes me step back. Sheesh. Might have to wait until it's in stock at a LGS or Amazon.

Like “game of thrones” does not mean ”is the game of thrones”. The players are capable of asking for clarification if uncertain. The GM is allowed to clarify if the Players come up with character concepts that don’t meet the game concept they want to run.

Take A Look At The DUNE Character Sheet!

It’s stuff like this that pushes me closer to pushing the button on the pre-order. I’ve already got a list of things to buy in 2021 so it’s annoying because if I do then something is going to be pushed back.

Style of game was one of the first things mentioned: "Game of Thrones". It might be not clear what that means to someone unfamiliar with the franchise, but as a person who has not watched the TV series (I have read some plot synopsis of the series, and did read the first 3 books of the novel...
