Quick, while everyone is focused on the 5.24 PHB...

I first played red box D&D / AD&D. But I think my first non-D&D game was Middle-Earth Role Play.

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

It's... not very noun-like. Even the short story feels like they hammered the phrase in.

It’s Hard To Be A Saint In The City Of Spire

So the callout on page 15 (bottom of page with title Skills - 24th page of PDF) has white text for you? Even downloading again from drivethru still has same problem. And using another pdf viewer (foxit, adobe). And using my iPad with goodreader.

It’s Hard To Be A Saint In The City Of Spire

I'm still waiting for the 5th Anniversary edition PDF to be fixed so it displays properly for Mac users. Even using another PDF viewer like Foxit or Adobe has issues. :(

Extensive Character Sheets Are GM Oppression

Unless in the gameworld "Wizard" means "Hobo Who Has Been Out In The Sun Slightly Too Long" then we can make assumptions about what training the character has. For most games the assumption is that a Wizard is rather specialised and spends much time being trained in the arcane arts, almost to...

Extensive Character Sheets Are GM Oppression

And I think you've highlighted one issue the Wizard with Mental 15 would have repairing the wains - lack of proper tools, lack of professional knowledge. It might even be repaired, for a few moments until the horses started pulling.

Extensive Character Sheets Are GM Oppression

If this were true then in real life I’d be an excellent carpenter. But I cannot even saw a branch off a tree even though figuring out how a saw works is quite easy.

Is Evil Genius Games Doubling Down On NFTs & Blockchain?

See this is a problem. People hosting copies of the decentralised databases and synchronising them want their cut. It's not done for free. Using your NFT (oops its gone but lets say its not for this story) is not enforceable unless you have a group establishing a monopoly that says "to play DND...

A few things I really like about WFRP

I agree with @TheSword - the amount of books published for 4E is amazing. And its not done yet.

A few things I really like about WFRP

1st Edition had the “Additional Damage” rule (2E called it Ulrich’s Fury but rolling D10). When any creature rolled a 6 on the D6 damage roll, WS was rolled again and if successful another D6 was rolled to add to damage. If this roll was a 6, you then just rolled another D6 etc. I think it’s...

A few things I really like about WFRP

As mentioned OWB is for 2E. The Imperial Zoo is not an equivalent for 4E but it's a nice book to have. For beasties there are a few PDF-only releases and newer books. Tribes and Tribulations is a greenskin book that contains the contents of the The Cluster-Eye Tribe PDF along with orcs, trolls...

DriveThruRPG quietly releases "legacy" URL for those who prefer the classic site look

Drivethrurpg doesn't have Coke money to throw away when new Coke fails. I'm 99.9% sure the new site is here to stay.

Purchased latest WFRP4e PDF release - The Hahnbrandt Militia.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

It also can be a player expectations problem. If a GM presents their campaign as one of equal mix of combat and social interactions and players choose to either build an optimised combat or social character, if the GM then always does combat or always does social scenarios then one of those two...

What is your favorite RPG book of all time?

Hmmmmm. Shadowrun 2nd Edition. It tidied up issues with damage staging from 1st Edition. And had the ABCDE system with character creation making it quick and easy to create characters (unless you choose money as A). I played once a week for a couple of years in my Uni days, and still have find...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

I'd think of it as a backup. Also that there are people in CR who want to create a game, the CR has the resources to make it a reality.

Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork from Modiphius Coming to Kickstarter This Year

I've been pretty happy with the games I've purchased from Modiphius, and purchased the GURPs 4E Discworld game because I love the Discworld novels and that game might have been (at the time) the only RPG of Discworld to ever be produced. So I am ecstatic to hear that Modiphius is going to make...

Should a TTRPG have a singular Core Rulebook or more?

I like boxed sets containing both Player and GM books. And dice. And doohickeys. And best not forget the ding dongs too. I guess this means I also support the option of two books.
