[3.5] Archmages Affected, Spell Power Clarified!

Epic Skill Focus does not require Skill Focus as a prerequisite. And now with Andy Collins saying they should never have let Greater Spell Focus slip by - it seems rather silly, doesn't it?

    [Rant] On Spell Focus...

Name one other feat in the core rules in 3.0e that actually increases the power of spellcasters at no cost. Spell Penetration doesn't affect everyone, and doesn't increase the power of the spell. All Metamagic feats in the core rules add to the spell level All Item Creation feats require XP...

    History Buffs: What if?

Oi, right, forgot that. Wasn't there a more Roman godman myth though? Still derived from Mystery Religions though, still from Greece, hmm. Too much Etruscan influence would likely mean Rome would just collapse. I suspect that the European 'barbarians' would be significantly stronger...

    History Buffs: What if?

More likely Mithraism. It would be difficult to say what exact form the religion would take were there no messiah myth coming out of Isreal supporting Attis or Yeshua - but there were a lot of God-men legends, with the two most popular being Mithra and Jesus (obviously). Eventually the...

[3.5] Archmages Affected, Spell Power Clarified!

Well, Andy did say it was Greater Spell Focus and 'other abilities' that convinced them that they needed to be changed, thus reducing them both in power. Since the only other serious DC boosting ability is Spell Power, well... Since I've only seen people complain about spell DCs in conjunction...

How many dice do you own?

Some people have over a thousand dice, I proclaim you wimpy :-p

    Ghostwalk -- Opinions?

I thought it made it painfully clear over and over and over an over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER again that ghosts in Ghostwalk are not the ghosts from the Monster Manual, have nothing to do with them, are not undead, and to insinuate a connection is an insult...

    How fast should NPCs advance?

I have a rather complex program that determines this and has absolutely nothing to do with where the PCs are at - the PCs are a part of the world, not the other way around.

In praise of 1 minute/level spells

Compare with See Invisibility, Knock, Daylight, and so on. 2nd level consists of many very powerful utilitarian spells - not just the boosters. At least for a wizard, spell slots are too precious to waste on crap that an item can easily duplicate.

    Epic Leadership

No. If you want more cohorts, you need to take regular leadership more than once, and probably epic leadership to make them cooler.

    Psion's 3.5 house rule list

Yay! Because I want to weigh in my hair-brained opinion! 1)Square facings I use two facings actually - always have. Armies march shoulder to shoulder (threat of area effect spells notwithstanding) and men are not spaced 5' apart. More like 2.5' or 3'. So I don't mind the square facing -...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Min/Maxed Two-Handed Weapon Damage Machine with the flavor of a Samurai

Umm Read Go Ri No Sho, seriously, and then proceed to tell me that he used only one weapon and had weak mental scores like that. :-p

    IQ to INT equivalent

Re: Re: Re: Re: IQ to INT equivalent What!? You're the one who pointed to the article... Why does it need to be a faulty assumption? I think the fualty assumption is that you can define the human range of abilities on a 3d6. In my never so humble opinion that's selling humanity so far...

    IQ to INT equivalent

Re: Re: IQ to INT equivalent Aside from the minor point that it's statistically wrong? :-p Nor is the word of Gary Gygax law. IQ 180 is well beyond genius by any measure. One in ten million have that kind of score, not one in 216. It also caused roleplaying issues when you think of it...

    Is Ghostwalk any good?

For whatever it's worth, my friend who owns the FLGS here says Ghostwalk is literally flying off the shelves. And RPGs aren't even one of his core businesses.

    The YAARGH Armor Revision

I'm referring to the practice of having kids being paid near-slave wages drawing the wire, more kids rolling it, more kids clipping the rings, and adults working for cheap knitting the final product. All in the same building - it was as close to assembly line automation as you get. Just...

    IQ to INT equivalent

Re: Re: Capital M anyone? I think the 1 in 40 is right, perhaps 1 in 41. It's not 1 in 36 because a lot of lucky bastards get 2 18s. The chances of getting a 18 on a single 4d6 die roll are 1 in 74 IIRC. I could be wrong. Someone else did point buy totals, but on 1 for 1: 1 in a...

    IQ to INT equivalent

Re: Capital M anyone? Something's up with your math :-p Odds of getting a 6 on 1d6 = 1 in 6 (for an even die) Odds of getting 2 6's on 2d6 = 1 in 36 (for even sided dice) Odds of getting 3 6's on 3d6 = 1 in 216 (ditto) There are six stats, and the average person rolls 3d6 for each of them...

Role-Playing XP (BobROE please stay out)

In one game I'm in role-playing acts as a multiplier (good or bad) for combat XP. from .5 to 2. I generally give role-playing situations - either problem-solving or diplomatic - a CR value based on how tough they are. Usually this is on the lower end of the player's CR scale, but there can be...
