Barbarian Class in this month's Dragon !

Each issue of Dragon and Dungeon has been completed and compiled into a 'release' PDF on a monthly basis so far. It's being done to a magazine schedule with the added bonus of being able to preview the articles throughout the month leading up to "publication." So I'm not sure what the loss is...

Bloodcut Armor - Overpowered? Or am I playing it wrong?

Per PHB p226, you get a daily use of the armor's power, and if you want to use it again, you have to first expend a standard action to "recharge" the Power of the armor, then use your minor action to actually use the power. So yes, he can use it while burning through all 10 of his healing...

Be Kareful! Møøse bites Kan be pretty nasti... A Møøse once bit my sister ... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands...

How do action points encourage me to take on more encounters?

I think it is more like action points give players the option to push on instead of taking an extended rest. As you go from encounter to encounter without rest, you start to run out of daily resources such as magic item uses, daily powers, action points, and healing surges. Reaching...

    Quick questions on light sources

PHB p262 lists light sources along with their radius and the level of illumination they provide. mcnathan80 explained all the rest.

    Warlord Inspiring Word out-of-combat usage

It's on PHB, p263: Using Powers while You Rest: If you use an encounter power (such as a healing power) during a short rest, you need another short rest to renew it so that you can use it again. So they explicitely expect that you'll use healing encounter powers (like healing word) during a...

    Commander's Strike clarified: Ask Wizards

Target: One creature Attack: An ally of your choice makes a melee basic attack against the target How do you read that as the target of the power being the ally? If it is, and the ally makes a basic attack against the target, then your reading has the power letting an ally attack himself.

    Insubstantial seems very, very boring

This question seemed familiar, and I remembered a conversation about it from a few weeks ago: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=237490 The only things mentioned in that thread that I've not seen here are: - Halving damage means you do slightly less damage than you would than if you...

hunters quarry or curse on traps?????

PHB p57: "Enemy" or "enemies" means a creature or creatures that aren’t your allies (whether those creatures are hostile toward you or not). Enemies are creatures; a trap is not a creature, so it's not an enemy. It's an object. I assume you are referencing p116 of the DMG, which mentions...

    How many opportunity attacks?

Just FYI, your reasoning is correct, but your example got changed out from under you; as of 8/11, come and get it causes a pull, not a shift.

    Ranged attack ammo

PHB p221: Ammunition: Arrows come in a quiver that holds thirty, crossbow bolts come in a case that holds twenty, and sling bullets come in a pouch that holds twenty. Ammunition is used up when you fire it from a projectile weapon. PHB p232: Ammunition: Ranged weapons such as bows, crossbows...

    Unconscious, Dying and your options

I think it is implied by the fact that while you are dying, you have to make a death saving thrown at the end of your turn each round. There are no turns/rounds outside of an encounter. Therefore, the encounter can't end if someone is dying.

    Forked Thread: Commanding allies

Hmm. I had told a player he couldn't use Radiant Pulse on an ally (or himself), basically setting up an encounter-long PBAOE centered on the original target with just a minor sustain, basec on the 'credible threat' clause. My reasoning was that you and your allies aren't a threat until/unless...

    Forked Thread: Commanding allies

Forked from: Collected Core Handbook Errata I saw this over in the Errata thread, and wanted to see if there was a consensus about this. Per the DM's Guide... That seems to indicate to me that you can't actually attack your allies with Attack powers (like Command, which has an effect that...

    Immune Charm/Fear

Well, the definition of immune is you have immunity to the stated type of damage or effect. Fear is not a damage type; it is an effect type (PHB p55). So you would be immune to the effect, but not the damage.

    Immune Charm/Fear

It's all about the keywords. If you're immune, it's to a kind of damage/effect, not to a specific spell/power.

    [KotS] Winterhaven player handouts?

I think that for a pre-printed map of the dungeon to be useful, they couldn't print them up in the same way as the large overland maps, i.e. big chunks of dungeon on each map. They would need to have individual maps for each room and probably also for corridors, to allow for an easier 'gradual...

    Drinking Potions

I had this same problem with First Aid. Kneeling down to revive a fallen companion with a First Aid check (or with Lay on Hands, or administering a potion) doesn't provoke? Seems odd. I can only assume this is game mechanic/balance logic instead of simulationist logic.
