New errata posted, stealth changes official

Glad they finally got this posted so it's now officially official, rather than simply being official.

    A Question on Minions...

Keep in mind that the entire room escapes unscathed only if you miss every minion. So you can still have some smoking unrecognizable remains mixed in with the surviving minions.

    A Question on Minions...

You make a seperate attack roll for every target in a Close or Area attack. Any minion you miss lives, any minion you hit dies (assuming your attack does at least 1 point of damage, and gets past any resistances and/or temporary hit points they have first). If you're specifically refering to...

    Forced Movement and Walking Wounded

The flavor of the power is that you have weakened the target, so he is stumbling around, and if he moves too far he falls over. Using forced movement (push, pull, and slide) does not count as a move action by the target ("no opportunity attacks", "not a move", "ignore difficult terrain" from...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

Given that these new rules were discovered within hours of appearing in the compendium, any GM who is planning to be in charge of a convention who is somehow aware of the existance of FAQs and errata, but also somehow completely ignorant of these changes, is frankly not paying attention. Since...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

I'd rather have the updates as they happen, with up-to-the-minute and current rulings in the compendium, rather than waiting for the errata sheet's publication cycle to finish.

    New stealth stuff from WotC

They're discussing this over on the Wizard forums, and someone got an answer out of a CSR: "Yes, these updates are official. The errata page may take some time to update, but rest assured that the rules for stealth found in the compendium are correct."...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

On the other hand, the errata that is being released is also being incorporated into the Compendium as it comes out. And with all of the discussions that have been going on over the last few weeks, I have a hard time believing that nobody noticed this discrepancy before... unless it wasn't like...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

It could just be that the person who updates the compendium is faster (or gets information sooner) than the person who posts the latest errata PDFs. Or the official errata releases come out when enough errata have accumulated, but the compendium can be updated piecemeal.

    Has anyone statted a mimic?

Interesting that you should mention that, as in response to this thread I just got done reading a historical perspective on these types of monsters (mimics, piercers, ropers, trappers, etc). http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/alumni/20060927a I do feel that, as a whole, mimics fall...

WotC CS answers some Stealth and Shadow Walk questions

I'm still digging, but I've yet to find this mentioned anywhere in 4th edition rules. The closest I've come is the reminder that when processing "Miss: Half Damage" that you round down, so if you roll a 1 for damage, your 'miss' damage is 0.

    Has anyone statted a mimic?

Given how the mimic traditionally functions, it might be better written up as a hazard than a creature.

    Minions and Temporary Hit Points

I'm gonna have to go with specific (temporary hit points are a layer of insulation that attacks have to get through before they start doing damage to you) over general (a minion dies if it takes damage). Give a minion temporary hit points, it won't die until the temporary hit points are gone...

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

The examples given (cloud of daggers and ray of frost) normally last until the end of your next turn, true. However, during your next turn, these effects now only last until the end of your current turn. You can now use the Orb of Imposition to extend the duration of an effect that would...

Ongoing effects & Delaying your Action

Out of curiosity, did you even look at WotC_Logan's reference? See page 288 of the PH, under delay. There's a "Start of Your Turn" section. And just in case it's not clear... Example 1: At the moment your Warlord delays, effect that last until the end of your turn and that are beneficial...

Paizo How do I? Looking for a rule

Pick Pockets has the inherent objective of taking the object without the creature being aware of the theft, and this is reflected in the DC. Trying to take something when you don't care if the target knows or not means he is probably actively defending himself, hence the suggested alternatives.

    D&D 4E Preparing my first D&D4E session

Ironically, if you google for "D&D 4th edition utilities" and include the quotes around the phrase, the only match is this thread.

    Warlock, which pact is best?

That's why it says that Intelligence provides special bonuses to many of your powers, rather than saying Intelligence is the most important attribute. If you're a Deceptive build, your damage comes from Charisma. If you're a Scourge build, your damage comes from Constitution. In either case...

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

On a miss, you're guaranteed to have combat advantage until your next turn, which improves your chances for hitting them with a power. On a hit, you get better than combat advantage - you hit them. Plus you may also get combat advantage for a follow-up attack. Sounds like the hit is better...
