    At last! Yugoloths!

Re: But are these really the loths? It could reflect a greater emphasis on the transmogrification that the Night Hags can offer an Ultroloth in return for serving them, a ritual that transforms them into beings that rival the Demon Princes and Archdevils. That was, after all, the case in 2E, and...

    BoVD Thoughts

I know I'll pick it up. Regardless of the presentation, it'll have something I've wanted for some time: a 3e revision of the Archdevils and Demon Princes. Let's face it, Monte was one of the better writers on Planescape, a setting that was already known for great writing. He wrote Hellbound...

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

Lind Worm was the original, as I understand it. However, linguistic drift being what it is, I can tolerate a bastardization.

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

Eh, not even the Tarrasque is unique these days ;) Besides, they at least made Corpse Tearer an epic-level monster.

    At last! Yugoloths!

Well, Anthraxus was technically back ever since Hackmaster published him, but a d20 version is, as always, welcome :)

    At last! Yugoloths!

My mistake. I remember looking them up on your old site when I was designing an adventure for Piratecat, and assumed they'd made it in. I guess I should have remembered that nothing in MMII is in the Tome of Horrors. My bad.

Re: Dear god the irony! Naw, you'd get a much smaller thread, because a mod would shut it down in less than ten posts. Such things are verboten here, and better taken someplace like Nutkinland.

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

Er, Power Word Kill was never really something to bring down dragons with. As for Lord Soth, the guy's somewhat unique as Death Knights go anyway.

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

That I'll grant you. Even 2E had much love to Anthraxus, the status of Oinoloth, and the other plague-driven Yugoloth lords. That's one thing I'd wished the Manual of the Planes hadn't watered down.

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

He's supposed to. Deathknights are enemies to base campaigns around. Besides, if your nice wizard-advancing Lich is still too weak, you could always have him go Demilich :)

    At last! Yugoloths!

Eh, Nightfall, I know you like Scarred Lands and all, but if you don't have an Arcanaloth, you might as well go home. Granted, the Tome of Horrors' Arcanadaemon will solve that, but there were a few differences between Arcanaloths and Arcanadaemons that sprouted up between First and Second...

    Fiendwurm: Coolest Monster EVER?

My mistake. I knew I'd seen it before, I guess I'd just assumed it'd been in one of the Monstrous Compendium Annuals.

    BoVD Thoughts

Which is again why I feel the book is at the least being a bit mismarketed. In my experience, books with a "mature" label often either don't merit it, or try too hard to be "mature" and just end up being senselessly gross. Take White Wolf's "Black Dog" books for example. Most just get the...

Orcwort isn't new. It was converted from a previous edition :)

    Derivation/History of the Drow?

Er, Svartalfar is just another word for Dvergar, or dwarves. "Dark Elves" in Norse myths were just the dwarves. "Dvergar", by the way, is the root of the Duergar in D&D.

Re: Re: Re: BoVD Thoughts Then perhaps a more salient point I could make is that I feel WotC is mismarketing the BoVD. Dragon very much is a marketing organ of WotC, even though it's published by Paizo now. Dragon's "theme" issues are often targeted at marketing specific WotC books, and the...

    BoVD Thoughts

One thing that bothers me, and strikes me as one of the main thrusts of those who like the BoVD, is the concept that one has to be "icky" to be evil, and that those that don't address these comments are somehow selling themselves or their players short with the "fluffy bunny version" of D&D. To...

    At last! Yugoloths!

*hugs his Monster Manual II* It was weird enough seeing the choice of Yugoloths they gave you in the Manual of the Planes, after they'd been passed up in the Monster Manual. How sad is it that it's taken this long for Arcanaloths and Yagnoloths to get an official conversion?

    Publishers Opinion Of PCGen

I agree that those using Access would likely be on firmer ground if they converted their tables to a tab-delimited or other human-readable ASCII file. It'd be painfully easy to set up the database to read and update these files, so there's really no excuse. The core could still be Access, but if...
