    What makes a good GM?

I good GM is capable of runing a game that not only he, but all his players enjoy. The specific details are largely irrelevant. It doesn't matter if it is diceless in depth roleplay or a brutal hack-fest or somewhere in between. As long as everyone at the table is enjoying it, you are doing a...

    Order of the Stick: #375...

Indeed. There is just something about a cute fuzzy little trans-dimensional horror from beyond the the the infinate reaches of madness, space and time that makes me smile. And since my san score is already 0, it doesn't have any adverse effects on me. ;)

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Computers are always logical. They always follow instructions precisely. They are not responsible if the programmer wrote some bad code. They are not responsible if the user is giving the wrong instructions, to many, or not enough. but when all else fails with your computer, try voodoo. It...

Bard feat - two songs at once?

Its a class feature of the ariamagus, a PRC I made a few years ago. Its the 7th level ability, Chorus of Many Voices: Duet. http://www.nadaka.us/AriaMagus.txt Edit: of course I realize that it isn't exactly what the OP asked for, and it isn't viable in a WotC only game. Though I should note...

    Cthulhu vs. the Tarrasque

Yes. Big C murderizes bigT, but it would likely take more than one round to subdue the bigT. But why would he? Big T is already powerful instrument of chaos, would it not be better to rend its childlike mind to a thousand pieces and then blasphemously corrupt him to the will of the great god...

    Vitality for Spells?

Not exactly. With W/VP you recover your vitality every hour anyway. I would however change healing in that it can heal 1 wound point per spell level or grant temporary bonus vitality points (that can not be used to cast spells). That should be sufficient to keep the spellcasters from recovering...

Help me! RPG Now needs a Credit Card for payment - and I don't own one!

Does your debit card have a visa or mastercard logo on it? if so, you do not need to enter it as a debit, just use it as a credit card of the apropriate type. If that fails, ask a friend or relative you can trust and see if they would be willing to help.

Homewbrew D&D Campaign setting problems: Help with my Creation Myth.

There are some definate good suggestions here. Note that the first child who sacrificed herself was Inritus, the goddess of void and balance. Left on thier own, the other gods can achieve balance only through conflict, rather than cooperation. One of the principal aspects that I have used in...

Help me! RPG Now needs a Credit Card for payment - and I don't own one!

99% of all debit cards can function as credit cards. In this case your card number is the long (16 or so digits) number printed on the front of the card.

Homewbrew D&D Campaign setting problems: Help with my Creation Myth.

I have recently decided to write down and share a high fantasy/horror/mystery/adventure campaign setting that I have been playing/writing for years. One thing that I have never touched on in any of my games in this setting is the creation myth. Weird? I know. Now that I sit down and try to...

How can we possibly get out of this one? (Updated with recent events)

You said that Ishimura was a lawyer? This side of the border all practicing lawyers have to register with the state bar association. I would assume the canadians would have a similar practice. If thats his real name, you can likely find him this way. If it isn't you need to get your police...

    Player Complaints About Pre-Gens

from what I have heard here and on the WotC message boards, 3/4 or more of the games ended in TPK's. While there were a few mechanical errors (like a fighter with a 2 handed axe and a shield), and some extremely poor design decisions (a paladin with a charisma of 10), and some decidedly bad...

    D&D 4E Mythusmage's D&D 4e Thoughts

I want to see: d20 modern as a base. Wounds/Vitality instead of hit points. Magic levels 0, 1 and 2 are bought with feats. After 3rd level, advanced/prestige classes handle the magic progression.

    Subraces - why so many?

This is why I hate elf-fanboys. IMC there are exactly 2 subraces of elf. I call them Elves and Drow. And except for trading lowlight with darkvision and swapping a few weapon proficiencies, they are mechanically identical.

How do you describe hp loss?

I intend to use a slightly modified version of W/VP in my next game. 1Vitality = standard, heals fast, represents scratches, bruises, dodges and turning blows. 2Armor = Hardness/bonus hp 3Wounds = mostly standard, pain tolerance and some physical toughness. Fort save or take 4status effects...

Finding d16s (was: How Balanced are d16s?)

With the standard cardinal numbers, a d-pi won't work. But I can figure something out to within a certain degree of precision. D-Pi? I can do it. Take a big plastic six sider, label each side once from the following set {Pi, 5Pi/6, 4Pi/6, 3Pi/6, 4Pi/6, 2Pi/6, Pi/6} There you go, 1dPi. :p

    Who's Got Rules for Cannons?

I strongly reccomend against using the d20 past rules. Thier lightest cannon actually does less damage than a .38 from a snub nosed revolver in d20 modern.

Finding d16s (was: How Balanced are d16s?)

You can make any fair dice by using a faceted spindle. You do not need a plutonic solid for a fair dice. D7s, D9s, D51s, all can be done with spindles fairly. Its just that they take a long while to finish rolling once you get past a certain point.
