    Attacking the Darkness

What happens if it's the other way round? What if the Rogue's elven and the torch bearer's human? The guy with the torch wanders past, the rogue's still in shadows and hidden to him. However, the rogue thinks he's brightly lit. Does that mean he actually can't be hiding?

You are chosen to play leader, what class will you take?

I said Cleric because, quite frankly, I've been playing Clerics and Druids as first choice right from when I was first introduced to 2nd Edition 15 years ago! Of course, my clerics tend not to be leaders in the classical sense, so people wanting an actual Leader might be disappointed in me...

    D&D 4E The GenCon UK 4E Announcement

That's exactly how I felt. The poor man is obviously very good at his job, or he wouldn't be so high profile within it, but his job isn't public speaker. He did get a couple of nice rounds of applause/cheers for certain things (easier to DM, simplification of grapple being the two that stick in...

    D&D 4E The GenCon UK 4E Announcement

Well, I got back from GenCon UK in Reading yesterday, and while there, I watched the 4E Announcement. I figured I'd probably already know what was going to be said, and I did, but I thought it'd be worth going. It was a mistake. Before this, I had a pair of friends who were at least somewhat...

Enworld Fantasy Football UK (soccer) '07/08 - Season Starts 11th Aug

After my shocking first two weeks, I'm feeling rather glad and lucky to have recovered to the extent I have without using my wildcard. All i need now is a nice convincing win for Spurs at the weekend, preferrably with Jenas and Berbatov doing all the work... not sure how likely that is, though!

    One piece of advice...

If someone shouts "Duck!", assume they want you to avoid something, rather than look at waterfowl. Embarrassment wears off quicker than decapitation.

Good luck everyone, and I hope no-one else does an impression of John Terry and does himself in before Saturday!

    My (Very) Mini Rant

That's an interesting quote. I had heard it was a quote from benjamin Disraeli, British Prime Minister, so I looked it up (using the terribly scientific method of googling it) and it turns out...well, quite possibly neither of us is right! http://www1c.btwebworld.com/quote-unquote/p0000149.htm...

    My (Very) Mini Rant

Or maybe it's law and order. With greater skills and equipment available to law enforcers, piracy became easier to thwart, and thus, the number of pirates was reduced. So it seems that the best way to combat global warming is to enforce strict anarchy worldwide. Either that or start a pirate...

    My (Very) Mini Rant

I know what you mean. I actually managed to pull the old "Did you know, the word gullible isn't even in the dictionary?" joke on someone once... and she should really have known by then never to trust a word I say. As to the stats thing, I have in the past considered myself to be somewhat of a...

    My (Very) Mini Rant

Did you know that 88.2% of statistics are made up on the spot?

    Ahhhhhh, stop typing that!

I'm with you there. The only added complaint I have is less to do with bad words, the internet or mispronounciations, and all to do with my own personal sense of imperial superiority. WHY when it crossed the Atlantic did the word Aluminium lose a letter? Seriously, it doesn't make it all that...

The Ctrl + V game revisited ... in honor of Bront

My first try yielded nothing but this time: It's the league code for the ENWorld Fantasy Football league on the Premier League site. I just joined so I needed the code.

Enworld Fantasy Football UK (soccer) '07/08 - Season Starts 11th Aug

Hi. I've joined. That's my Hampshire Exiles. You may recall me from the first year. I went away last year because some friends wanted to try a different fantasy football game, but I'm back again ready and raring to go for the new season!

    Yes, you have to!

Jack Davenport or David Tennant. Even ignoring the fact that they are attractive guys, the fact that it'd make my fiancee pretty jealous would be reason enough to choose them. For those of you not up on your british actors, Jack Davenport is Norrington from Pirates of the Carribbean and David...

What is the deal with giving your kid a last name as a first name?

That's actually a pretty neat porn star name. Mine's got more of a ... jazz feel to it, either this way, or the other way I heard, which is childhood pet + mother's maiden name. With road name: Dizzy Armstrong With maiden name: Dizzy Davis Thank you, mum and dad, for naming our cat Disraeli!

    Test post please ignore

I wouldn't go that far. Reading them's fine, in fact, it's almost a reflex (for me at least). Setting much stall by them is for pansies. Doing what they say is for patsies. Being eaten in Cornwall is for pasties... Sorry, I got a bit tangented there...

    Test post please ignore

You know what this stinks of? Railroading! I demand non-linear threads! Linear, constrictive 'track' driven threads inhibit my creativity!

    Test post please ignore

I think Jdvn1 passes the day by ignoring everything and everyone. I suppose that way the world could seem like a nicer place, if emptier...

    Rugby: Autumn Internationals

I just don't understand. I mean, Robinson was there with Sir Clive when we prided ourselves on our discipline and won games with kicking. Now Argentina are having over twice as many kickable penalties as us, and we're losing games on kicking. Was he not around when defensive training was run...
