    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

Come to think of it, I don't think we ever see Supes at full power in this movie. He starts being beaten up by the Hammer of Barovia, and gets taken to the Fortress to get some focused sun... and he leaves when he's at 83%, and gets beaten again. We don't know if he gets to rest up again before...

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

Come to think of it, that bit reminds me somewhat of another great hero: Esmeralda Weatherwax. "There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example," said Oats. "And what do they think? Against it, are they?" said Granny Weatherwax. "It’s not as simple...

Green Ronin Crowdfunding Legal Defense Fund In Fight Against Diamond Distrubutors

Makes sense. That also explains why the most successful licensed RPGs are those that are tied to an IP with long-term success and lots of source material to draw on (e.g. Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings) where both the licensor and licensee are interested in a more long-term relationship...

Pathfinder 2E Challenge and XP are overstated

I have a feeling your PCs just got lucky, or somehow managed to make the monster use its action economy poorly. Just looking at a simplified white-room analysis, and using the creature creation guidelines for numbers: A typical level 2 PC will have an attack bonus of +9 (proficiency 4...

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

There's an old-ish Superman comic, I think it's one of the early ones after John Byrne's post-Crisis reboot (80s?). It's the era where Lex was turned into a business tycoon rather than a lone mad scientist. Anyway, in this comic Lex realizes there has to be some connection between Clark Kent and...

Jess Lanzillo Joins White Wolf as Creative Director

Yeah, lately I've been preferring more focused settings. This doesn't necessarily mean geographically small, but that it's primarily about One Thing. For example, earlier this year I went in on the Han Cluster crowdfunder for Savage Worlds. In geographical terms it's huge, covering Earth as well...

    Trailer Red Sonja trailer

To me, that's a fairly moderate level of cheese. Compare to Xena or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or something like that.

    Doctor Which

One of the issues with Capaldi is that it felt like TPTB wanted to take the character in a new direction, but couldn't settle on which direction. When Capaldi was good, he was effin' fantastic, and he had the best River Song episode in the whole series. But there were some duds in there. I...

Jess Lanzillo Joins White Wolf as Creative Director

You're probably thinking of the controversy surrounding the Camarilla sourcebook for Vampire 5 (not Chronicles of Darkness). Basically, the book had the ongoing persecution of LGBTQ+ folks in Chechnya be a plot by the vampires actually running the place, as a distraction from their other evil...

Green Ronin Crowdfunding Legal Defense Fund In Fight Against Diamond Distrubutors

That is part of why I think that from a business POV there are too many RPGs. If there were fewer of them, each would likely have a larger audience and thus make more money (and probably be able to make more supporting material as well).

Jess Lanzillo Joins White Wolf as Creative Director

Onyx Path is not a "fairly separate" entity, they are an entirely separate entity who licenses some things from White Wolf (primarily Exalted; I don't know if the Chronicles of Darkness license has been formally abandoned or just in practice).

Green Ronin Crowdfunding Legal Defense Fund In Fight Against Diamond Distrubutors

Just wondering, is this a one-and-done expense that would be part of establishing an ongoing business relationship, or would you need to file a new one for each shipment you send to the distributor? And is there a particular reason why it wouldn't be covered by the consignment agreement the...

    Draw Steel News

This is an issue of fact – not really something to "agree" or "disagree" on. There was an update posted on May 31. Before that, there were a couple of updates posted around Christmas, with the second Backer Packet and the associated survey. They also said from the start that most of the...

What Is Your Go-To Pick-Up TTRPG?

IMO, SWADE with pregens is good for a one-shot, particularly if the pregens (like the archetype cards they have for various settings – see below for examples) also have a short description of edges and hindrances. SWADE with character generation is not.

A few things I really like about WFRP

Virtuous cycle if it's positive, or snowballing can be either positive or negative (it's often used somewhat negatively about games where initial success leads to more resources which leads to more success, which can be bad in long-term games because at some point it becomes obvious what will...

Jess Lanzillo Joins White Wolf as Creative Director

I'm pretty sure Pugmire is Onyx Path's own, not one they're licensing from Paradox/White Wolf.
