Is it possible to be successful without leaders?

Unless he has a class based bonus to AC for not carrying a weapon, like the Swordmage, wears leather or hide armor, so long as he gets his class bonus to AC still, and has a good dex bonus to AC. I have Swordmage wearing leather and an 18 in int and he has 20 AC at level 1. If not he will most...

Is it possible to be successful without leaders?

O.K. First I would need clarifying on the party make up. Are there two defenders including the fighter or just the fighter as the defender? If there are two defenders, fighter and paladin, then they should be sticky enough to keep the baddies away from the squishy controller and the two distance...

Basic question about cloud of daggers

I believe unless the power specifically states to add in the implement bonus damage then it is not.

How to balance a fight with a monster who switches sides?

A high passive insight PC, say 20+ which is possible at level 1, should suspect, at the least, that the NPC is using them and will at some point turn on them when most opportune. I would make the guy turn when 1 or 2 common enemies remain. That or be evil and do it when they are all dead.

Mordenkainen's Sword. Am I reading this right?

It allows a creature to try and shift out of range of the spell, knowingly or not, since the sword must stay within 10 squares of the wizard. Although I believe there is a feat that extends a wizards spell range a few squares, maybe 5 or something like that.

    Query about final confrontation

The DM could always just roll percentage dice and anything 50 or higher for a brute, soldier, skimisher or the like would start trading blows and the DM could roll after each exchange. This way its all in the hands of dice. Controllers and the like would of course do what they could to get the...

Forked Thread: What would you have done?

Bad tactics on the players part is never the DM's fault especially when the DM gives more than one way to ease the difficulty to players with advantageous terrain. I think you need to have a come to jesus meeting with your players and go over some basic tactics with them on how to effectively...

    Ammunition Woes

I've never met a DM that requires archers to keep track of arrows. Daggers on the other hand a player should keep track of if they are throwing them and confirm with the DM if they are recoverable all the time.

Aiding anther for a skill check?

My DM's just require any who assist be trained in the skill in order to do so and they must roll a natural 10+ as well. It limits the number of people who can assist and still allows either a pass or fail for the one making the check as well. This seems to balance out what would be a broken...
