The Knockback Feat (Or, if you just want combatants flying through the air . . .)

Okay, a new version. Knockback Prerequisites: Str 20 (?) On a successful melee attack the attacker may attempt to knock his foe into next week. To do this he conducts a modified Str check against his opponent (d20 -10 for the Knockback + his actual strength -- not the modifier, but his...

The Knockback Feat (Or, if you just want combatants flying through the air . . .)

And you'd deserve it, for not including your feat in the original 4CTF (which I bought the day it came out) :) Hmmm. Stupid d20 system. Yeah, 50 ft is a little much. But I think your system is a little on the wimpy side. Okay, a lot on the wimpy side. [B] While Ahnold knocking you...

The Knockback Feat (Or, if you just want combatants flying through the air . . .)

NOTE: New improved version appears two posts below. Knockback Prerequisites: Str 20 (?) On a successful melee attack the attacker may choose to begin a modified Bull Rush against his opponent, at –10 on the check (i.e., competing Strength checks, with a +4 or –4 bonus/penalty for...

    More Mobile Combat!

The auto-knocked-five-feet-back is a bit odd. You get knocked five feet back if a kobold stabs you for a point? Check out the Knockback feat in House Rules that I'm just about to post . . . I was thinking of making it a feat, but I suppose one could say it's simply a maneuver that anyone could...

    Flying over the battlemat

Re: Re: Re: stuff to use... I've had the exact same dream. God, that would be cool.

    Rogue/Wizard or Rogue/Sorceror

It all depends on what *you* want to do with the character. Do you feel more like a rogue, or more like a spellcaster? Also, are you going for Arcane Trickster? The requirements are specific enough that your path is pretty much laid out for you in a lot of ways. Only experience I have...

    Shhh! No verbal spells aloud.

Oh, I know it makes it harder, my point is just that it may not make it hard enough -- that in a high-level campaign, Still Silent Silence spells may not be Spellcraftable by the main spellcaster, and thus would work quite well as 4th level counterspells. Also not sure if your solution works...

    Shhh! No verbal spells aloud.

Re: Re: Re: Shhh! No verbal spells aloud. It's not a bad House rule, but I think it causes problems at higher levels, potentially. A caster with Still Spell and Silent Spell really isn't giving much of a sign that he's casting anything, and so most house rule that Spellcraft checks to detect...

    Shhh! No verbal spells aloud.

Did the cleric hit HIM with a Silence spell, or just cast a Silence spell in the air close to him? My understanding of the rules is that one does not get a saving throw in the latter situation, no? (Yes, this makes readied Silence spells very cheaty . . . and perhaps broken enough that a House...

    ECL after chracter creation

Spoken like someone who wants to be a werebear when he grows up :). I don't see how alignment enters into it. If you're a ravening beast, you're a ravening beast. You have no self-control, regardless of your alignment. The description is pretty clear -- you're an unthinking rage-filled loon...

[HUMOR] Don't visit this site if you're at work.

Hmmmm . . . I used to game at FoF, for the few months I was living in Niskayuna. Was in a campaign on Friday nights (?) . . . I don't remember *any* player names at all, unfortunately, but I remember the DM had a pet NPC by the name of Kershon. Don't suppose any of this rings a bell? If so...

[HUMOR] Don't visit this site if you're at work.

Oh. My. God. I had to close my office door . . . something tells me that the tears running down my cheeks and stifled gut-wrenching guffaws wouldn't be looked upon too highly by my coworkers. Check out the rpg.net rants at the bottom: http://albruno3.tripod.com/homepageframe2randr.htm I...

Would you give XP for this?

I think he'd get a lot less :). Similarly, if a team of non-clerics went Wraith hunting I'd give them a lot more XP than if a team of all clerics tried to do the same job. It's a much bigger challenge, going after undead without a cleric. Wait . . . I hear a party of clerics somewhere...

Would you give XP for this?

Your name isn't "Bob", is it? I like the part about you jabbing your sword through your throat, though.

    ECL after chracter creation

Well, except for that part about becoming a ravenous beast when there's a full moon, or when he's mad, and turning into a bear (so much for the armor) and attacking everyone close to him. This arose in another thread . . . PCs of any alignment who think that lycanthropy is a boon have another...

    Forrester's Against the Elves Campaign

Oh, this is just a warm-up. Things are about to get VERY interesting :D. The session next week and the week thereafter should result in the wetting of some humanoid pants. Or I'm just not doing my job . . .

Would you give XP for this?

I wouldn't give XP . . . but partially because the traps are so lame. Holy Smite? If one member of the party is a Paladin, I'm guessing that most of the others are good-aligned as well. I can't imagine giving XP for this. So if a good-aligned party walks into a good-aligned castle, and walks...

    spell turning questions

Hmmm. I'm not entirely sure that Spell Turning doesn't affect rays. A Rod of Absorption's base spell is Spell Turning, and it works almost identically to Spell Turning . . . and it absorbs rays. IMC, the spell would work on rays, but I can see interpreting it differently.

Wow, is this thread closed/deleted/stupid. I'd be surprised if this response got through . . . Oh -- and it's "Is Harm BrokeN???".

    Greater Spell Focus: balanced?

They do, ya maroon. The higher level mage you are, the higher level the spells you'll be throwing at your enemies. And the higher level the spell, the tougher the DC. And Apok, why don't you list the non-dragon creatures that can handle saves of DC30+ without sweating? Actually, back-to-back...
