January: What are you reading for your penultimate year?

The Connelly novel finished much stronger than the middle part. Now I'm reading Butcher's First Lord's Fury. I will probably end up reading it when I should be sleeping or preparing to GM this weekend, if his previous novels are any guide. :)

    Caprica: The Final Episodes

Argh, I missed 'em. Just switched to U-verse, and hadn't gotten the DVR fully redone. Oh well, DVDs, Netflix, or Hulu, I guess. I thought Caprica was the most science fictiony SF TV show I'd seen -- digitizing human consciousnesses and the implications thereof, the virtual world & how people...

    Guilty pleasures

It's better than the live-action Aeon Flux movie. I'm a classicist -- Hawk the Slayer, man! :p

    Dark Sun #1 available!

I know IDW has some digital comics -- I think they have an iPad app, for one. No idea if either D&D comic is part of that, though. Check their website, I guess. Edit: which is here, FWIW.

January: What are you reading for your penultimate year?

Chasing the Dime, by Michael Connelly. Not enjoying it as much as the Harry Bosch novels of his that I've read.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Class Question

Huh? I don't remember ever telling people they can't convert stuff at home. Heck, I don't remember replying to any other post like this, let alone "every" one. I check the PF forum here a couple of times a week any more, with occasional longer absences. I doubt I've seen every other private...

    Fighter vs. Barbarian

2 armor bonus; PF breastplate is +6 armor, not +5. Unless you meant armor + max Dex, in which case breastplate is 1 better than chain shirt. Of course that assumes your barbarian is going to casually have a 16 or 18 Dex; I'm not sure how common that is (outside of very nice ability score...

    Who's your favorite Villain?

IIRC, it was basically a primer on the character and a bit of a recap on who Kate is, who the supporting cast is, etc. It was good, but short. The art was still awesome; from what I've seen, even the issues JHWIII isn't on art are going to look good. Rucka was one of my favorite current comics...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Class Question

FWIW, the duskblade, dragon shaman, and other non-core classes from WotC aren't open content, so Paizo can't convert them without risking claims of IP infringement. (Such claims might not stand up in court, but one doesn't have to lose a legal case to have the costs wreck one's business. Of...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder PC Races list

The reason the undine, sylph, dhampir, etc., sample creatures are CR 1/2 is because they have a PC class (cleric, rogue, fighter, etc) rather than an NPC class (typically warrior). An elf, dwarf, or other core race NPC that had one level of a PC class would also be CR 1/2 rather than the CR 1/3...

    Who's your favorite Villain?

Joker as portrayed by Heath Ledger, Cersei Lannister, and Angelus. Alice from Batwoman is off to a great start, too, but I'm not sure she'll hold up over time. Hopefully, Rucka comes back to DC sometime.

In Search Of a 'Modern Fantasy Revised Earth' setting

If you want modern day tech (well, at least as of 1999), GURPS Technomancer is the bomb (heh). If 1950-ish tech (plus weird science) is close enough, Day After Ragnarok is awesome. Of course, you could update either one to the modern day easily enough, though you'd have to make up your own...

    M&M 3rd edition Hero's Handbook - hard copy. :)

I'm not planning on switching to 3e, but I'm going to get the 3e book. There are some things I will probably swipe, and others I might consider. But, I'm not a fan of the new progression table, new Impervious, and a few other things.

    December: What are you reading?

Read Good Omens and Cook's Passage at Arms. Talk about mood whiplash. :) I think I"m going to read Black Blade Blues next, by J.A. Pitts.

    Superhero Power: Electrical Control

Yeah, most supers don't have the know-how and fine control necessary to do that sort of thing. But it has come up in comics -- Magneto has done electromagnetic things to brains, various telekinetics have grabbed various internal organs, and I think some electrical hero or villain effectively...

Pathfinder 1E What's this I hear about a new Pathfinder setting?

The continent/land/region is called Tian Xia. Rumor has it that the setting book might be Paizo's Gen Con 2011 release, but they haven't announced that far out (AFAIK). The AP path will be called Jade Regent, and Jacobs has said it will start in Varisia. I'd guess that it will involve a certain...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

So they've taken 5 years and 5 months to get to where they are now. That's not too bad. (In my Rise of the Runelords PF game, the PCs started the week at 4th level; a day and a half later, they'll be 6th.)

    Righteous Might projectile weapons error

Are you talking about in Pathfinder only, or in all D&D 3.e & descendants? If it's the latter, check out Races of the Wild, p. 165, where the various arrow types are listed under both bow and arrow -- but the damage definitely varies by the arrow. Or Arms & Equipment guide, p. 7, for the blunt...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

All those times Rosetta spoke so respectfully about Cor Kek & his might, I can't believe that Dranko didn't drop Cor Kek's head in front of her.

    December: What are you reading?

Finished Captain's Fury, Harry Connolly's Child of Fire, and Scalzi's Zoe's Tale -- I read a lot last week, somehow. Now reading Princep's Fury.
