    The 1e Tournement

Round 2 could be whole new PCs; start with them standing over the corpses of the PCs from round 1 . . .

What's the best way to avoid a laser?

I'd go with counting it as difficult terrain to cross safely (maybe even bump it to triple cost?), but you can do it for "free" with an Acrobatics check. As noted, Small creatures would probably be able to pass automatically. If you lowered it (to hit Small critters in the head, for example)...

Forget the Mule: Why Must My DM Restrict Chicken Ownership?

Something wrong. Something very, very wrong.

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

Dude, I paid you last para-century. BTW, how many degrees of seperation do these boycotts cover? I once wrote templates for a GURPS book that Ken Hite revised, and Bruce Baugh once interviewed Ken Hite -- if I ever have something for sale, will I be boycotted?

Players - if you would consider your PC having a romance with an NPC, what sort?

When I play, any romantic partners for my PC largely depend on the PC in question, and the campaign. E.g., if it's a Special Ops campaign, romance probably doesn't come up a lot (at least until it turns into a WWIII/post-apocalpyse/secret conspiracies/time travel game).

Players - if you would consider your PC having a romance with an NPC, what sort?

In my last D&D campaign, two of the PCs got married. Of course, the players are married in real-life, so I'm not sure it really counts. Another PC married an NPC -- the PC was (to start) a N rogue; she slowly grew more of a conscience, eventually dedicating herself to Sehanine (the PC's cousin...

    Do you like character building?

I dunno - did you pay the points for it? ;) I'm fine with making characters; since my all-time favorite game systems are probably GURPS, Champions, D&D 3e, and M&M, that's probably a good thing. I am not such a fan of overkill character "optimization" to the point of breaking the system (and I...

    Ring of Fast Healing

Except a lot of prices increase as the square of the value, rather than linearly -- e.g, a +2 sword is 2*2=4 as expensive as a +1 sword. If fast healing should follow a similar progression, that would make a ring of fast healing 8 16 times as expensive as a ring of fast healing 2. Personally...

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

Brian K. Vaughan created & did the original and longest run (Vaughan also was writer & creator of Y the Last Man and Ex Machina, FWIW). Whedon had a run, which has indeed been collected in both regular TPB and a smaller TPB (same size as manga releases, IIRC). There are tons of trades of the...

    Can't mark forums as read

Didn't someone suggest that it was because the "all" was literal -- including the moderator-only forum(s)? So you click mark all read, it tries to mark the forums you can't access as read, and dies.

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

It's been on "hiatus" for almost a year, though, with no mention of when it'll return. Which sucks. So, much like A Dance with Dragons, I'll believe it when I see it. :) But this is totally not about D&D comics, so I will stop.

Ah, the stupid things PCs do...

I call it the "crazy ninja syndrome". I was at a con one year, and every single person playing the rogue/stealth person was crazy-dumb. The Iron Heroes rogue (or is it thief? I forget) wanted to use his one dose of poison to KO an entire nomad tribes' worth of horses; he then wanted to use their...

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

I believe so; they mentioned Gen Con in the book, at least. evildmguy, Runaways was an excellent comic originally written by Brian K. Vaughan; Joss Whedon was a fan, and had a run on the book, too. It was pretty Whedon-esque all along, really. Excellent, fun comic, IMHO.

Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

I am going to start a Pathfinder game in the next month or so, and I plan on allowing the revivify spell for sure. That'll probably be about it, though, unless someone has a specific request.

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

I liked it; the stories were short, but they were just there to setup the D&D ongoing & the Dark Sun mini-series. Especially since it was just a $1.

Is house ruling fair to the game or gamers when first introducing it?

I'd say "sure". After all, I already paid them for their writing & creation, and since I'm introducing their game to people new to it, I'm even trying to get other people to pay them. So I've already done enough to be "fair" to them; I can personalize the game. (Of course, I suppose if you say...

What's your favorite RPG that you've never actually played?

Most of the games I really like, I've played at least once or twice. There are plenty of games I'd like to try, but I don't know if I'll like 'em or not. I'll go with Eclipse Phase -- I like it enough to have bought it, at least.

Special Magic weapon creations: sword of subtley

That should be +4000 gp, shouldn't it? A +3-equivalent weapon is 18k gp; 22k-18k=4k. One of the 3e designers once discussed the price of things like dwarven thrower, holy avenger, sword of subtlety, etc., on a website or message board, and suggested that +x-equivalent abilities for weapons &...
