    Subscription levels dropping

I think he asked specifically why people who had subscribed recently (in the last 9 months) had stopped subscribing even more recently (in the last couple of months), which isn't the same as "why don't you subscribe". Your first post in this thread said you let your subscription lapse during the...

    Ennie-ness of ENworld

The way I understand it, the judges pick the nominees from products submitted by the publishers. If the publishers don't submit something, it can't be considered. Then the judges work out the nominees and honorable mentions. Then the public votes on the nominees. So, if the nominees are biased...

    Your game trajectory

Let's see, I think I was 8 or so the first time I played D&D -- I have no idea what edition it was, actually, since it was maybe an hour or two. My poor low hp (3? 4?) fighter got his arm broke by a mean guard trying to cross a bridge to get to the City-State of the Invincible Overlord. After...

    Ennie-ness of ENworld

What is the perceived bias for or against, exactly? I'm confused!

    XP Levels Revealed!

Are you sure about that? I could've sworn I saw something the other day -- it was at least a glimmer, if not an outright sparkle.

    Define the term "campaign"

Does game system matter? If I run D&D, GURPS, and M&M games, are they all part of the same campaign?

Braunstein (as old-school as it gets): Saturday 12-4?

No Gen Con for me again this year (dammit), but I thought I'd second Tav's suggestion. I observed the end of one of the Braunstein sessions in '08, and it was amusing just to watch.

    Slow Advancement Rocks

Hmm, the longest running campaign I've been a part of is (nearly?) 20 years old, and has spanned two GMs, 7 players (or more; I'm probably forgetting someone), three entirely different game systems (T2K, GURPS, M&M), multiple settings, and crossed over with at least five or six other campaigns...

    How do you approach tactics?

As a GM, I let the players handle the tactics, though I will sometimes ry to encourage character-appropriate tactical thinking and teamwork. As a player, I tend to think tactically, though it depends on the character and the game, too. I've played characters who intentionally were tactically...

Ordinary vs. Extraordinary - the origins of characters

I said "mix", though that depends on just how ordinary ordinary is. I like ordinary like the ordinary heroes of fiction -- who, by being the survivor, aren't actually ordinary at all, if only in luck. For example, say an ongoing campaign is supposed to be "survive the apocalypse". The PCs can...

    Savage Worlds: Question for Ari

    For d4, it's 1 in 16 (6.25%); d6 is 5 in 36 (13.89%). Of course, with a d8 it's 1 in 8 (12.5%) -- little wonkiness.

What could a publisher sell you RIGHT NOW/

I'd buy a real bag of holding (or 10) right now. Better, a small portable bookshelf of holding. (Also, in the comment above, that should be "turn-based"; "urn-based RPGs" might be fun, too, but I'm not into pottery. Stupid inability to edit typos in XP comments . . .)

D&D 4E No more reprints of the 4E core books?

How else would you explain the squad of ninjas I found rifling through my boxes of gaming books this morning? They were sure looking for something, and it wasn't GURPS Middle Ages I. I was almost late for work, fighting them off took so much time. And I've got a heck of a mess to clean up later...

    Gaming in the basement

Put me down as another "not many basements 'round here" person. I've gamed in quite a few garages and at many kitchen/dining room tables, though. I think I was in a basement once, when we visited family in Tennessee. ;)

    D&D 3.x 3.5- Multiple shots with a bow?

It hasn't been my experience that dedicated archers are terribly underpowered compared to melee fighters. What besides Power Attack can a melee combatant do to up their damage that an archer can't do? Seeing the 3.0->3.5 complaints, I'd like to say that I have always thought that the double...

    MIC Boots?

Most of the PCs I've seen with them tend to use the shirts and anklets mainly as "get out of grapple" items. That's how my beguiler mostly used his -- swift action out of grapple, then cast freedom of movement or run away or what have you.
